Swimmers Shine at Speedo Sectionals at Ithaca

Our ‘Cudas brought their magic up to Ithaca College in Ithaca, NY this past weekend for the EZ North Speedo Sectionals. Some of the fastest athletes from about 100 teams within the northeast competed at this year’s meet.

We were well-represented with Zach Bezold, Matt Freund, and Hannah Wilson qualifying for this prestigious meet.

Zach finished up his season with Personal Bests in all three of his events, dropping -0.11 in his 100 Breast, -0.43 in his 200 Breast, and -0.67 in his 200 Free (Time Trial swim). For his efforts, he set two new team records in the 100 and 200 Breast.

Matt, battling the flu for the first few days of the four-day event, rallied on day four swimming an impressive 49.64 in his 100 Free. Matt has qualified for USA Swimming’s Futures Championships.

In her maiden voyage at Sectionals, Hannah proved not to take her young age for granted. She made finals in all four of her events, even finishing an impressive 13^th Place in the 1000 Free. She swam Personal Best Times in 5 of her 7 splashes dropping -1.43 in her 1000 Free, -8.08 in her 400 IM, and -5.66 in her 500 Free. In the process she set new Team Records in the 500 Free, 1000 Free, and 400 IM. She hits the road again this week, joining Reese Berg and Nathaniel Kern at EZ North Age Group Championships in Webster, NY.
