Swimmers Impress at Junior Olympics
Congratulations to our qualifiers for this summer’s NJ Swimming Junior Olympics, held at Rutgers University from 7/29-7/31. They had a great meet, earning Personal Best LC times, Top Places, and more. For their efforts, NJB came in 19th of the 40+ teams, despite having only 5 swimmers in attendance!
Rylee Bambara had a great 200 Free scoring with a 15th Place finish, earning 2 points, and dropping -2.41 seconds. She also had great swims in her 100 Breast (-0.57), 100 Free, 200 IM, and 50 Free.
Racking up some points was Ty Hollar, who took a 4th Place in the 800 Free (-22.63); 5th in the 400 Free (11.97); 8th in the 200 IM (-2.38); and 14th in the 100 Back and 50 Back; along with other impressive swims in the 50 and 100 Free (-0.46). He earned 46 points for his efforts.
Despite recently aging-up, Jonathan Kern had a good showing scoring with his 7th Place 100 Fly (-2.11); 9th Place 800 Free; and 14th Place 100 Free (-0.33) and 400 IM (-7.96). Other notable swims were his 100 Back, and 50 Fly. He contributed 26 points,
Nathaniel Kern got in on the action, despite preparing for his upcoming trip to Zones in Ithaca a few days later. He took Firsts in the 100 Free (-1.79), 200 Fly (-1.34), 400 Free (-2.09), and 50 Fly (-0.21); 2nd Place in the 400 IM (-11.96); and 6th in the 50 Back. He brought home 110 points for the team.
To add to the weekend’s accomplishments, Jillian Weinberger swam a really impressive 400 IM, and a solid 50 Free.
