Swimmers Excel at Gold Championships

George Soutter

Congrats to our swimmers on their great swims at the NJ Swimming 11&Over Gold Championships held at Rutgers University 3/17-3/20. There was some fast competition at both meets from the hundreds of swimmers from the 42 attending teams. NJB was well-represented in Finals. While our meet objectives did not include team placing, our nine ‘Cudas took 20th Place for their efforts!

Our scoring swims were swum by Rylee Bambara (7th in the 100 Free, 4th in the 200 Free); Ty Hollar (10th in the 1000 Free); Jonathan Kern (8th in the 100 IM, 6th in the 50 Free, 6th in the 50 Back, 6th in the 200 IM, 5th in the 50 Fly, 4th in the 100 Fly, 4th in the 100 Free, 3rd in the 100 Back, and 2nd in the 200 Back); Nathaniel Kern (8th in the 100 Back, 5th in the 50 Free, 4th in the 200 Fly); and Hannah Wilson, who took 1st Place in the 100 Free!

There were a ton of great performances. Of our 53 splashes, 30 were Personal Bests including some standouts like Ty Hollar’s 1000 Free (-19.93) and 400 IM (-6.68); Evan Weinberger’s 200 Breast (-8.72); Hannah Wilson’s 400 IM (-6.47); and so many more!

New NJB Team Records were set by Jonathan Kern (50, 100, 200 Back); Hannah Wilson (100 Free, 400 IM); and Evan Weinberger (200 Breast).

Congratulations to all, and good luck to Hannah Wilson as she travels to Ithaca, NY to compete at the 2023 Speedo Sectionals and to Reese Berg, Ty Hollar, Jonathan Kern, Nathaniel Kern who will be competing at the Eastern Zones Age-Group Championships in Webster, NY!
