Swimmers Strike It Rich at Go for the Gold

George Soutter

Our first meet of the season at Go for the Gold this weekend exceeded expectations, with some amazing swims, top places, and a bunch of Personal Bests!

Despite being the smallest club there, our swimmers performed great, even earning 10 Top-3 finishes! Congrats to our medalists Rylee Bambara (2nd in the 50 Free); Reese Berg (2nd in the 200 Back, 3rd in the 500 Free); Abby Czinkota (2nd in the 200 Back); and Caroline Turner (3rd in the 50 Free). A special shout-out to Ty Holler for not only his First Place (100 Back), but for medaling in 5 of his 6 events (2nd in the 200 Back, 3rd in the 200 Breast, 2nd in the 200 Free, 3rd in the 200 IM)!

While we knew our swimmers were looking good in practices, we usually don’t expect them to earn Personal Best times only 6 weeks into the season. Despite that, of our 67 splashes over the weekend our ‘Cudas earned 31 Personal Bests! And many were significant like Ana Apostolou’s 50 Breast (-11.66); Brooklynne Davis’ 100 Breast (-9.91); Ty Hollar’s 200 Breast (-9.59); Kaylee Moss’ 100 Free (-6.87) and 50 Fly (-5.50); Channing Muller’s 100 Breast (-6.85), 100 Free (-5.62), and 200 Free (-7.46); Jake Pando’s 50 Back (-7.54) and 50 Free (-12.44); Sam Taylor’s 100 Back (-13.07), 100 IM (-9.66), 200 Free (-37.45), and 50 Breast (-6.27); Zoe Thaller’s 200 Breast (-5.95); Caroline Turner’s 200 Free (-16.58); and Autumn Wintermute’s 100 Free (-9.98); just to name a few! All in all, in a sport where success is often defined in 100ths of a second, our 17 attending swimmers earned over 222 (3:42.83 to be exact) seconds of improved times!

Congratulations to all of our swimmers and coaches on a great meet! Next up is the JAC Fall Festival in November!
