Competition Season Begins at Condor Meet!
Congrats to our 29 swimmers who competed at the CONDORS Fall Festival at Feliz Festa Middle School this past weekend. They joined swimmers from 14 other teams for our first outing of the season. It was a successful meet with lots of Personal Bests, top finishes, and a few Gold times!
Expectations should always be tempered for the first meet of the season. It is not realistic to expect that swimmers will surpass times that were earned at championships at the end of last season when they were in optimal shape, suited up, shaved, and tapered. A good indicator would be comparing times to this time last season. Despite that, 45 of our 92 splashes were Personal Bests! If you include our 24 first-time swims, 75% of our swims were new marks! Wow! Many of these were significant drops, like Joanne Antosiewicz’s 50 Back (-26.15); Josh Bigora’s 200 Free (-18.01); Bridgit Campbell’s 200 Breast (-11.97); Julia Dutzi’s 100 Free (-23.86); Adam Marton’s 100 Back (-22.05) and100 Free (-10.59); Daniel Marton’s 100 Breast (-17.36) and 100 Free (-20.39);and Ryan Pando’s 50 Fly (-46.33) and 50 Back (-20.06); and many more!
These successes also resulted in some top places, include top-8 finishes by Ana Apostolou (8th in 100 IM, 2nd in 50 Fly); Rylee Bambara (7th in the 200 Back); Gianna Battaglia (4th in the 100 BAck); Reese Berg (3rd in the 400 IM, 5th in the 200 Breast, 8th in the 200 IM); Nataasha Bhagaloo (8th in the 50 Back); Ty Hollar (4th in the 400 IM, 5th in the 200 Back); Adam Marton (6th in the 50 Fly); Channing Muller (7th in the 50 Free); Ryan Pando (5th in the 50 Back); Samantha Taylor (3rd in the 50 Back); and John Wintermute (7th in the 200 Fly).
Congrats to our swimmers who earned Gold cuts: Ana Apostolou (50 Fly); Reese Berg (200 Breast); and Ty Hollar (200 Back)! There were a bunch of Silver times earned, too!
What a great start to what is bound to be an exciting season! COngrats to all!
