Westfield Area Y Devilfish Dive into Long Course Season
The Westfield Area Y Devilfish Swim Team began the long course (LC) season with a solid showing at the SVY LC CUP Championships at Princeton University, June 10-12. During the LC season, swimmers adjust to swimming a 50 meter or "long course" instead of the traditional 25 yard course. Hosted by Somerset Valley Y Swim Team, the meet is a perennial favorite with the added incentive of "hot heat" prizes--great swims, great music and a great way to kick off the LC season! Devilfish swimmers placing in the Top 8 include the following by age group:
10&Unders: Kyle Picut, 2nd place 50m Breast, 3rd place 50m Free, 5th place 200m Free.
11-12s: Stefan Crigler, 5th place 50m Breast, 8th place 100m Breast; Lucas Fan, 6th place 50m Breast, 7th place 100m breast; Fan, Crigler, Nick Youssef, and Griff Morgan teamed up for a 4th place finish in the 200m Medley Relay and 7th place in the 200m Free Relay.
