Devilfish Win 4 Individual Gold at Y ‘Silvers’

Congratulations to the fifty-four swimmers who competed in the NJ YMCA Silver Championships held at GCIT in Sewell, NJ on February 17-19. Breakout swims led to twenty-eight NJ YMCA State Meet qualifying times!  Eighty-nine percent of swimmers swam a personal best time in at least one event. Devilfish event winners capturing the gold medal were Stefan Crigler, Julia Diamantopoulos, Rory McGovern, and Kyle Picut. Diamantopoulos teamed up with Lauren Schmeider, Elise Morano and Courtney Han to win the Women’s Senior 200 Free Relay. In addition to the event winners, the following swims placed in the Top 8 (State team members in BOLD):

9-10 Girls: Jillian Hitzel-6^thplace (100 Back.)

Other notable swims include state qualifiers Thomas Brennan (9-10 100 IM) and Lauren Wang (9-10 50 Fly) who will join the 12&Under State Team February 24-26 at Ocean County YMCA.  Katherine Duffy qualified to compete in 13-14 100 Free and will travel to Franklin & Marshall on March 9-11 to compete with the 13&Over State Team.  Congratulations to all swimmers and coaches!
