Carly Whitmer Signs NLI to George Washington University

Carly Whitmer has signed a national letter of intent to attend and compete for George Washington University next year. Carly signed her letter in a special ceremony at Mount St. Mary Academy, with Westfield Y head age group coach Jackie Whitty in attendance.

A two-time USA Swimming Academic All-America, Carly said she selected George Washington for its athletic reputation and its high academic standards. "I love the balance between athletics, academics, and spending time with the team," she said. "With an intended major in international business, Washington D.C. is without a doubt where I want to be, and I know I will be prepared well for life after college."

As a Y swimmer, Carly owns the state record in the 100- and 200-yard butterfly, and swam on the WY's record-breaking 400 medley relay last year.
