Highlights are as follows:

WY Boys “B” Wins Battle with FOBY 

The Westfield Area Y Devilfish Boys “B” Swim Team claimed a victory over the Freehold Old Bridge YMCA Purple, 188-180, November 10. Top swims for the Devilfish include the following:8U: John Veres and Will Dailey placed first and third for 25 free. Veres touched second (25 breast.) Leo Mangiamele won 25 back and 25 fly.9-10: Aidan Fitzpatrick took second place (100IM). Zachary Williams and Kyle Pinkin touched 1, 2 (50free). Pinkin and Fitzpatrick went 1, 2 (50 breast.) Steven Gorelick and Matthew London touched first and third for 50 back. Williams and Henry Brown placed 1, 2 (50 fly.) Brown, Fitzpatrick, Pinkin and Williams bested the field in the 200 Free Relay.11-12: Teddy Diamantopoulos earned third (100 IM). Jeffrey Yang placed first (50 free) and third (50 breast.) Ashlen Suen and Austin Chen placed 1, 2 for 50 back. Suen touched second with Conner Smith a close third for 50 fly. The 200 Free Relay team of Thomas Brennan, Sebastian Tretter, Suen, and Diamantopoulos took second.13-14: Alex Prystupa placed first and Evan Moore third (200IM.) Nick Bond placed third in the 100 free. Steven Warren, Prystupa and Bond swept 100 breast. Kevin Wang placed third (100 back). Moore scored second for 50 fly . Prystupa, Stuart Callinan, Warren, and Moore teamed up for a victorious 200 Free Relay.15-18: Noah Stiles and Max Picut finished 1, 3 (200 IM.) Alec Penn and Conner Mailley touched 1, 3 for 100 free. Picut won 200 breast.  Blake Taylor scored second (200 back). Penn and Stiles finished 1, 2 for 100 fly.

WY Devilfish Boys “A” Defeated by SAY

On December 8 the Westfield Area Y (WY) Devilfish Boys “A” Swim Team’s efforts were thwarted by Summit Area YMCA (SAY) Boys “A” Team at home, 146-227.Top scorers for the Devilfish:

8U: Aidan Trenery, Kevin Warren, and Billy Maguire swept 50 yd. Freestyle.  Warren and  Peter Youssef touched 2, 3 (25 Breast.) Roan Baker, Youssef and Maguire swept 25 Back. Trenery was first and Carsen Sharkey took third for  25 Fly.  Trenery, Warren, Baker and Maguire won the 100 yd Medley Relay.

9-10: Andrew Kapadia placed second(100 Free). Sebastian Birse was third for 50 Back and second in 50 Fly. Seth Comacho, Michael Riordan, Birse and Kapadia touched second in the 200 Medley Relay.

11-12: Ryan Bebel won 200IM and 50 Breast. Eric Bebel and Rory McGovern went 1, 2 (100 free).  Bebel won 50 Fly. Jack Cifelli placed third (50 Breast). McGovern, R. Bebel, E. Bebel, and Kyle Picut won the 200 Medley Relay.

13-14 Jesse Liu placed third (200IM) and second (100 Back.) Ryan Daniel and Aedan Collins touched  2, 3 for 200 Free. R. Daniel placed second (100 Fly). Stefan Crigler was first (100 Breast.) The 200 Medley Relay team of Lucas Fan, Crigler,  Griff Morgan, and R. Daniel placed second.

15-18: Matt Daniel was second in 200IM and first in the 200 Fly. Nicandro Donadio placed second (200 Free). Aidan Donadio placed third(100 Breast.) Luke McGrory was third in 100 Back. McGrory, Aram Barmakian, M. Daniel, and N. Donadio teamed up for a second place finish in the 200 Medley Relay.

 

SHY Bests WY Devilfish Girls “B”

The Westfield Area Y Devilfish Girls “B” Swim Team were overpowered by Somerset Hills YMCA Girls “B” and lost at home by a score of 110-264, December 8.

Top swims by the Devilfish:

8U: The youngest Devilfish were outstanding! Olivia Alpizar, Vivian Jeckell, and Abigail Bebel swept 50yard Freestyle. Katherine Li, Emma Cervaso, and Jeckell swept 25 Breast. Rylee Corvelli, Li, and Isabella Conway placed 1, 2, 3 for 25 Back.  Bebel, Waibel, and  Alpizar completed a sweep of 25 Fly.  Conway, Li, Bebel and Jeckell won the 100 Medley Relay and Alpizar, Ceraso, Courtney Pinkin and Sopihia Waibel touched second.

9-10: Isabelle Gauthier placed second (100IM).  Lindsay Wang won the 100 Free. Gauthier and Wang placed 1, 2 for 50 Fly. Mary Weber touched third (50 Back.)

11-12: Caitlin Hogge placed third (50 Breast.)

13-14:  Lizzie Diamantopoulos earned third place (200IM.) Jessie Trinkle took third for 100 Fly..

15-18: Meredith Bagger was second (200IM).  Kathleen Bond placed third (100 Breast.) Julia Diamantopoulos won the 100 Back. Emma Buckley placed second (200 fly). J Diamantopoulos, Bond Catie Collins and Courtney Han placed second for the 200 Medley Relay.

SVY hands WY Girls “A” First Defeat

In their first contest of the dual meet season, the Westfield Area Y (WY) Devilfish Girls “A” Swim Team was defeated at home by Somerset Valley YMCA (SVY) Girls “ Red” Team, November 11, by a score of 144-232. The following swimmers were top finishers:

8U: Ella McLane and Erin McKinney placed 2, 3 (25yd free.)McKinney and Kelly Sullivan touched 2, 3 (25 breast.) Alyssa Hitzel won first in 25 back and 25 fly. Sarah Kennedy took third (25 back.) Bridget Thomas was third (25 fly.) The 100 Free Relay team of McLane, McKinney, Rebbecca Montero, and Hitzel touched second and the team of Emma Brown, Kennedy, Sullivan and Riley Gasson placed third.

9-10: Natalie Lee won 50 Fly and earned second place for the 100IM. Julia McGann won first and Tess Deyerle third place (50 free). McGann scored third (50 back.)  Katie Bromberg placed third (50 breast). Courtney Thomas touched second (50 fly.) Thomas, Bromberg, Tess Deyerle and McGann raced to a second place in the 200 Free Relay.

11-12 Aidan Donohue touched third (100IM) and first (50 breast.) Muriel Maloney and Emma Conlon touched 2, 3 for 50 free.  Maloney and Keeley Thompson finish 2, 3 (50 back.)  The 200 Free Relay team of Sophia Weldon, Conlon, Donohue, and Maloney touched second.

13-14: Caroline Basil placed first for 200IM and 100 Back. Emily McGann touched third (100 free.) The 200 Free Relay team of Audrey Picut, Betsy Penn, E. McGann, and Basil touched second.

15-18: Caitlin Carroll took third place(200IM). Carly Whitmer won first for 100 fly. Whitmer and Ellie Reinhardt finished 2, 3 (100 free.) Becky Zhang placed third (100 breast.) Reinhardt touched third (200 back.) Whitmer, Reinhardt, Lauren Schmeider, and Courtney Day teamed up for second place in the 200 Free Relay.
