Westfield Area YMCA Devilfish Have Strong Showing at Stingray Splash

The Westfield Area Y Devilfish sent almost 150 swimmers to the Hunterdon County YMCA Stingray Splash which was held January 13-15 at the Raritan Bay Area YMCA in Perth Amboy. The Devilfish competed against athletes from seven other teams from across New Jersey at the three-day meet.

Many swimmers achieved personal best times and advanced to various championships.

Danny Pierce qualified for Nationals in the 100 Backstroke.

Olivia Babeu (100 Breast), Dima Batkivskyi (100 IM), Abigail Bebel (50 Free, 100 Free, 400 IM), Olivia Giuliano (100 Fly), Ryan Dedman (200 IM), Reeve Gall (100 Free), Alex Giangone (100 Fly), Emily Kapuscinski (100 Fly), Jane Kavanagh (200 Breast), Derek Liu (1st 50 Fly), Mason Liu (1st 200 Breast), Patrick Miller (100 Fly), Anisha Ojha (100 Back), Kevin O’Neill (1st 200 Free, 1st 100 Breast), Danny Pierce (1st 100 Back), Leona Rogers (100 IM) and Thomas Tao (50 Breast) placed first in individual events in their respective age groups.
