Fencing is a modern Olympic sport with ancient roots. For centuries, fencers have practiced this martial art to develop strategic thinking, discipline, speed, endurance, and flexibility.
The New Mexico Fencing Foundation is pleased to bring this exciting sport to Northern New Mexico. With dedicated training facilities and flexible training programs, NMFF provides a welcoming environment for the beginning fencer as well as for the experienced competitor.
Fencers ages 8+ are welcome. Beginners start with the Introductory Package of two one-hour private lessons and then move on to the Beginner Class Wednesday afternoons, 4:30–5:30. When it's time to advance, they can switch over to the Improvement Classes on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, 4:30–5:30.
Experienced fencers can join Open Bouting on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 5:30 and Saturday mornings at 10:00.
NMFF is proud to host Jorge Luis Chiquet Castro, Licensed International Fencing Master, who offers private lessons for competitive fencers throughout the week. Stop by the club to meet Coach Jorge and schedule training.
We hold Epeé tournaments the second or third Saturday of most months. Visit New Mexico Fencing Foundation on AskFRED to see the schedule and sign up.
To register to fence at NMFF, visit the Registration page.
New fencers should sign up for the Introductory Package for $100 and contact us to schedule your two one-hour lessons with one of our coaches, or visit when we're open to talk in person.
We aim to keep things simple for our fencers, with only two levels of membership:
Once a fencer has moved on from the Introductory Package, USA Fencing membership is required to fence at NMFF.
