Information on being unattached
Per USA Swimming's rules, when a swimmer transfers to another team, he/she must be unattached for 120 days. However, it is important to understand what this means.
First, the unattachment period begins after the date of the last swim meet in which you represented your old team. For example, if your swimmer competed in the Oklahoma Age Group Championships, your unattachment period began after that meet. It doesn't matter that you transferred to a new team 10 days or one month after that meet.
Second, being unattached simply means that you cannot score points or compete on relays during the 120 day unattachment period. You can still participate in meets, practices, social events, etc.
For swimmers who competed in the recent Age Group Championships, your unattachment period will end July 15 (just prior to Sectionals, Divison IIs, and Age Groups). If your last meet was Sectionals or Division II, both held prior to Age Groups, your unattachment period will end before July 15.
