Coach Kathy featured in The Oklahoman
Kathy Mendez, KMSC head coach of age-group swimming, was featured in today's The Oklahoman by assistant local editor Bryan Painter for her outreach efforts in the sport.
While many of us are familiar with her efforts to start the Native American Clinic and Meet that several of our athletes volunteered or competed in recently, she also has a long history of volunteering with the New Day Camp each summer.
“Most of the children did not know how to swim so I just started teaching them during the lakefront time. Over the years this has developed into formal instruction and now we receive donations which include swim suits, goggles, towels, etc.," Mendez says in the article.
