USA Swimming announced that KMSC parent and official Greg Harkins will join the newly-formed Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Council.

The Council, which includes 22 members, is one of two leadership groups formed as part of USA Swimming's long-term plan "to provide expertise and strategic guidance to USA Swimming staff and swimming leaders regarding diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI)."

"The DEI Council will operate similarly to other USA Swimming National Committees, and appointees will serve one- to four-year term," USA Swimming announced its news release.

Harkins was nominated for the position by former KMSC head coach Kathy Mendez, who was a major advocate for diversity in competitive swimming.
