| Welcome to the Roseburg Y River Otters Swim Team! ABOUT US: We are the only year-round swim team in the Umpqua Valley. We come from a long line of Roseburg swimmers boasting numerous All-Americans and multiple Olympians over the past 5 decades. Swim Team Program Focus and YMCA Philosophy The YMCA Swim Team is designed for swimmers who wish to pursue competitive swimming in a fun and positive environment. The YMCA swim team staff is dedicated to giving families involved in swim team a great experience while providing fitness and fun to children of all ages. We will strive to help each child develop a healthy spirit, mind, and body. We will help your children to gain self-confidence, goal-setting abilities, physical fitness, and character. Our goals: We will help children reach their full potential as a swimmer. We will help children learn good sportsmanship and the purpose of being on a team. We will promote lifelong fitness. We will teach and model the character values of Honesty, Caring, Respect and Responsibility. YMCA MEMBERSHIP: Because the swim team is a YMCA program, each swim team member must also be a member of the YMCA of Douglas County in Roseburg. The membership fee varies depending upon whether you have a youth or family membership. Please see the membership desk for current rates. YMCA dues are calculated annually to run a fiscally sound program. Y membership cards must be scanned upon every access to the facility. This helps YMCA staff to ensure safety, track attendance, and help us to plan for staff and time/space usage. USA SWIMMING: The Roseburg YMCA Swim Team is a member of USA Swimming. All swimmers must be registered as USA Swimming members even if they do not plan to compete in meets. The annual USA Swimming registration fees are in addition to your monthly RYST swim team dues. The USA Swimming membership provides secondary health and accident insurance in case of injury during swim team practice and during swim meets. COACHES: This year's Roseburg Y Swim Team coaches are: Platinum and Diamond groups: Christy Todd Gold group: Adam Robson Silver group: Shawn Sullivan MONTHLY DUES: Dues are dependent upon the group in which your swimmer is placed and will change as your swimmer moves from group to group. All dues must be paid by automatic bank draft or credit card. Draft schedules will be sent to parents. RYST coaching staff will determine the level in which your swimmer participates. It is a multi-faceted process that generally includes: age, maturity, attitude, swim skill sets, swim speed, numbers in groups, and other factors that affect the flow of practices. If at any time you have questions or concerns with regards to which group your swimmer is in, feel free to contact an RYST coach. Monthly RYST Dues Bronze group: $60.00 Silver group: $75.00 Gold group: $90.00 Diamond group: $90.00 Platinum group: $110.00 Group placement is determined by the coaches. You will be billed for each month that your swimmer "gets wet". Swim meet fees are also set up to draft from your preferred method of payment.
