SWIM MEETS

Throughout the year club swimmers will compete in different swim competitions. Meets provide one of many opportunities for swimmers, coaches, and parents to measure the improvement and hard work put in by athletes. Though meets and team events are not required, athletes are highly encouraged to attend. In addition to seeing visible improvement in an athletes swimming, meets provide great team bonding opportunities and interactions.

Missouri Valley Swimming (MV) – Club swim ONLY

Our club team will compete in USA Swimming events as part of the Missouri Valley league. Club Swim members MUST be registered with USA swimming to attend meets/events. Club swim consists of two separate seasons – short course (Sept – Mar), and long course (Apr – Jul). Short course meets will be in pool with a length of 25 yards or meters. Long course will compete in pools of 50 meters.

Club meets will generally be multi day meets and require a bit of travel, depending on the host’s schedule of events and events that the athlete competes in. Team travel/general schedule will be outlined for each meet. See Meets/Events section on the website for more information on organized team travel.

Southwest Missouri Swim League (SWMO) – Prep 1 & 2 and Blue group.

During the summer months of June & July the team swims in a local league composed of public and private teams in the area. Meets are generally Thursday or Friday mornings and finished before noon. Summer only swim will last 6-7 weeks and consist of 5 meets. Only Blue group has the option of swimming Summer League OR Club.

Meet Schedules

A schedule of upcoming meets can be found on the team website under the Meets/Events tab. MV schedules will be published in August or early September. SWMO meets will be available in May.

Each practice group has meet participation goals. As athletes progress though the practice groups and achieve higher standards, they are encouraged to attend more and larger meets. Some USA swimming meets will require swimmers to have previously qualifying times at a USA swimming sanctioned event. Athletes will not be able to compete unless these standards have been met.

Meet Expenses

USA meets will all have meet entry fees delegated by the host club. Additionally, there is a $30 per swimmer fee charged by our club to help with the costs associated with sending a coach to away meets.

Travel, lodging, and meals are additional costs not covered by the club. Though a meet schedule and organized travel information may be provided, these costs are the responsibility of the athlete’s parent/guardian. Recommended travel information can also be found with meet information on the website. For additional information regarding the cost of attending swim meets, please talk to the coach.

Registering for a meet

As soon as meet information is available from the host team, the invitation will be posted on our website along with any important information. A registration link will be posted as well. Through a swimmer’s account, follow the link and fill out all the following information on the online registration.

For SWMO meets coaches will choose the events for all swimmers. For USA meets, athletes will fill out their preference of events when registering online. Final decision will be left to your coach.

All meet fees will be charged to the account on the date that registration is due. Parents have until the day of the meet to pay all associated meet fees. Any account with a balance due the day of the meet will not be allowed to compete in any events.
