Position Overview
Thunderbirds Aquatic Club is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Assistant Age Group Coach to work with swimmers ages 10-14. The ideal candidate will foster skill development, sportsmanship, and a love for swimming in young athletes. The ideal coach has competitive swimming experience and understands stroke mechanics and techniques of all four competitive strokes.
Job Details
- Position: Lead Age Group Coach
- Reports to: Head Coach
- Age Group: 10-14
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 4:30 PM to 8:00 PM
- Weekend Availability: Required to coach at swim meets
Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly Pay: $18–$22, based on coaching experience
- Mileage: Mileage reimbursement for travel to and from swim meets
- Training: Paid onboarding including USA Swimming certifications meeting all hiring requirements for coaches set by USA Swimming
Key Responsibilities
- Coach, mentor, and motivate age group swimmers 10-14
- Implement age-appropriate swim workouts and skill instruction
- Attend and assist with swim meets on weekends
- Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and staff
- Promote a positive team culture and uphold club values
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous coaching or competitive swimming experience
- Strong communication and leadership abilities
- Ability to complete USA Swimming certifications
- Ability to work evenings and weekends
- Reliable transportation with a valid drivers license
