Email from Coach Russ: George Mason Update as of September 4, 2024

Good Morning All

Met with GMU again last night and they provided me with another update.

Good news, they will OPEN next week and we will be starting at GMU on Thursday, September 12th. Our first Sunday practice at GMU is Sunday, September 15th. We will not be at Manassas Park Sunday, September 15th or Sunday, September 22nd, we will be at GMU.

Bad news, they have uncovered additional issues, they missed identifying lanes with painted crosses. The bulkheads still have not shipped so they've decided to open temporarily and then close for 3 weeks to address all issues at once.

They do not know how long they will be open but their best guess is they wll be OPEN September 12 through September 30 and then close for 3 weeks. Once they determine a close date we will receive a week notice. Please do not hold me to the dates above, the temporary open could be longer or shorter. 

They will not allow teams to practice in the lanes that are not painted so our lane space will be reduced. I will not know how this impacts us until Monday, September 9th.

Cub Run and Manassas Park remain options for all families now and when GMU closes. I've also talked with Heather Haddock from MAKOS and she is currently working on a new location for her September 28 - 29 meet. Feel free to attend a practice at Manassas Park and or Cub Run as it fits your schedule.

Cub Run - 12 & under - 7:15 am - 8:15 am - Monday - Thursday

MP - 13 & over - 5:30 am - 7:00 am - Monday - Friday

MP - 12 & under - 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm - Monday - Thursday
