The Lloydminster Rebels Summer Swim Club is seeking enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and athlete‑focused Head Coach and Development Coaches to drive our 2026 season forward with excellence. These leaders will guide and elevate our competitive summer swim program, fostering growth, skill development, and a positive team culture. Reporting to the Board of Directors (the “Board”), the coaching team is entrusted with delivering a high‑quality training environment that empowers swimmers of all levels to pursue and achieve their goals.
About the Club
The Lloydminster Rebels Summer Swim Club is a proud member of Swim Alberta and operates as a competitive summer swim program dedicated to developing strong, confident athletes. Running annually from May 1 to August 31, our season offers swimmers a fast‑paced, high‑energy environment centered on skill development, teamwork, and personal achievement.
Each summer, the Rebels participate in up to 10 swim meets, with competitions held on weekends throughout the season. Weekday practices form the core of our training schedule, complemented by additional weekend sessions early in the season to prepare athletes for competition. Our swimmers range from developing athletes to seasoned competitors, and we take pride in fostering a supportive, inclusive, and growth‑oriented team culture that empowers every athlete to thrive.
Positions Available & Coaching Schedule Expectations
The Rebels are hiring for both Head Coach and Development Coach positions. Each coach will be assigned a dedicated group of swimmers for the full duration of the season and is expected to attend scheduled practices and competitions, with the Rebels offering some flexibility when possible.
Typical weekly coaching hours include:
- Monday–Thursday: 6:00–8:00 PM
- Tuesday morning: 6:00–8:00 AM
- Saturday: 7:00–9:00AM (May only), then swim meets throughout the summer.
- Sunday: 4:00–8:00 PM
Coaches must be available for weekend swim meets, with the Club attending up to 10 meets per season. Additional weekend practices may be scheduled prior to the start of competition season.
Head Coach - 1 Position Available
Qualifications
- Registered with Swim Alberta and the Canadian Swim Coaches and Teachers Association
- NCCP Swimming 101 Certification or higher.
- Minimum two years of swim coaching experience.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Complete a Criminal Record Check in accordance with the Swim Alberta Screening Policy prior to the start of the season.
- Experience with Team Unify or similar platforms is an asset.
- Current First Aid & CPR certification is an asset
Duties & Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Governance
- Follow all Club Policies, Guidelines, Bylaws, and Swim Alberta standards.
- Support the Board with club growth, development, and strategic planning.
Coaching & Athlete Development
- Design and deliver training programs; track attendance; share safety information.
- Manage swimmer medical/emergency info and ensure all coaches know procedures.
- Lead goal-setting for coaches and swimmers.
- Create level-specific training plans, performance standards, and competition criteria.
- Build training and meet schedules aligned with swimmer goals.
- Maintain records of swimmer progress, attendance, and take disciplinary actions when required.
Season Preparation & Registration
- Manage registrations and meet entries through Team Unify.
- Lead start-of-season processes: assess new swimmers, plan group placements, communicate openings, and attend registration events.
Administration & Communication
- Attend AGMs and present seasonal and long-term plans.
- Collaborate with Development Coaches to plan and deliver engaging, effective, and development‑focused swim practices.
- Maintain positive, respectful relationships with swimmers, families, coaches, the Board, and city partners.
- Communicate updates or concerns to the Board within 24 hours.
- Attend meetings as required and log all hours and tasks daily.
Staffing & Team Operations
- Assist in interviewing and evaluating new coaches.
- Assign meet staffing in coordination with coaching staff.
Compensation

Development Coach - Multiple Positions Available
Qualifications
- Be at least 15 years old
- Have a least one of the following:
- Community Sport Coach Course
- Swimming Teacher in Training Status: Red Cross WSI or I can Swim Teacher
- NCCP Swimming 101 Certification
- Experience working with youth in a swim club, aquatics program, or similar sport environment.
- Coaching experience or a competitive swimming background is considered an asset.
- Complete a Criminal Record Check in accordance with the Swim Alberta Screening Policy prior to the start of the season.
Duties & Responsibilities
Program Support
- Follow all Club Policies, Guidelines, Bylaws, and Swim Alberta standards.
- Support the Head Coach and coaching team in delivering the Club’s training and development goals.
Coaching & Athlete Development
- Collaborate with Head Coaches to plan and deliver engaging, effective, and development‑focused swim practices.
- Track swimmer attendance and help reinforce safety expectations on deck.
- Maintain strong communication skills and support swimmers in a fun, encouraging, and structured environment while helping them set and achieve their goals..
- Provide stroke correction, encouragement, and skill development feedback during practices.
- Assist with meet-day duties such as marshalling, warm-ups, and group supervision.
- Maintain basic records of swimmer progress or concerns and communicate them to the Head Coach.
Administration & Communication
- Maintain positive, respectful relationships with swimmers, families, coaches, the Board, and city partners.
- Communicate updates or concerns to the Head Coach promptly.
- Attend meetings or training sessions as required.
- Log hours and tasks as directed by the Head Coach.
