The Barracuda's Artistic Swimming Club of Aruba, formerly known as the "Zwem & Waterpolo Club de Barracuda's" was founded in 1970 as a Swimming and Water Polo club. Artistic swimming was added in 1975. Nowadays, the Barracuda's is a nonprofit sports organization with the ultimate goal of preparing athletes to compete on the world stage.
Artistic Swimming is a hybrid form of swimming, dance, and gymnastics consisting of swimmers performing a synchronized routine of elaborate moves in the water, accompanied by music. The events include solos, duets, trios, combos, or team routines.
Artistic Swimming demands advanced water skills and require great strength, endurance, flexibility, grace, artistry, and precise timing as well as exceptional breath control when upside down. During the routines and acrobatic movements, swimmers are not allowed to touch the bottom. And finally, all of the skills combined into a well-synchronized routine is what creates the beautiful sport of Artistic Swimming.
Mission Statement
The Barracuda's Aruba recruits prepare and develop athletes at all levels and abilities to achieve their full potential in the sport of Artistic Swimming. A well-structured environment that nurtures athletes to be able to have fun, make new friends, strive for excellence while learning about competing in a demanding team sport.
Vision Statement
Instill the love for artistic swimming in athletes, parents, and the community of Aruba.
