Kristen started swimming competitively at the age of 7 for the West Shore Sea Serpents up through High School at Red Land High School. She made varsity starting her Freshman year. Her main event was the IM while filling in for backstroke and breaststroke as needed. When she didn’t need to fill in, her other main event was usually long distance. When she is not at the High School pool you can usually find her and her daughter at the YMCA practicing. She is excited to be part of the MSC team and looks forward to the fall season.
Coach Patrick comes to us from Germany, bringing us different perspectives on practice methods. He has past experiences with his family swimming and is great with kids. He has been part of the MSC swim family since his daughter started swimming at 6 years old. When he is not at the pool you can find him watching European Soccer (Football) or roasting coffee.
Coach Amelia is very excited to be a part of the Mechanicsburg Swim Club. She grew up swimming for a local team in her home state of Maryland. When Amelia moved to PA she swam for Gettysburg High School. While attending The University of Pittsburgh, she swam for a rec team and also played co-ed water polo. Her main events were freestyle and breaststroke. When she is not coaching, you can find Amelia spending time with her family or taking a Pilates class.
Coach Keith Shively is excited and honored to be a part of the Mechanicsburg Swim Club. Coach Shively began his swimming career in Hanover as a young member of the Seahorse Swim Team. Later, after moving to Mechanicsburg, he swam and was a lifeguard for MASH, and then in college served as a lifeguard at Elizabethtown College. Coach Shively was most recently the head water polo coach for MASH and has served as a lifeguard trainer for Mechanicsburg School District and the Mechanicsburg Outdoor Pool. Currently, he is the Assistant Principal at Elmwood Academy in the Mechanicsburg Area School District. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking, camping, doing projects around the house, and spending time with his wife, Mindy, and his daughters – Norah, Rory, and Sybil.
Coach Rick started competitive swimming his freshman year of high school because a friend convinced him to give it a try an hour before tryouts started. He ended his four year career as one of the team’s captains. His main strokes were butterfly and freestyle. Fast forward 16 years and he has enjoyed watching his daughters (and now son) swim for MSC. He is looking forward to moving his coaching from beyond the sidelines to behind the blocks.
