Welcome to the 2021 Manor Monster Swim Season!!!

John C Mann
Greetings, Manor Monster Swim Families!!!

Wow...  Did it feel good to type that for the first time in almost 2 years!  Did you miss us?!  We have sure missed you, and hope your families have been well despite the crazy past year and change that we've had.  Our pool is being prepped, plans are being made, and we have LOTS of updates to share with you, so without further ado...

Registration is now open for the 2021 Manor Monster Summer Swim and Dive Season!  You will find the registration form attached to this email, or under the Swim and Dive tab on the Manor website.   Please register by May 15th  so that we can build our roster, communicate effectively with our Monster families, and keep everyone updated as we gear up for the season. Please complete one registration form for each of your Monsters and email them to  mstyrczula@manorcc.org .

We do not have our traditional Sign-Up Social planned at this time due to COVID guidelines, but please be assured that our Aquatics Director, Coaches, Club staff, and Team Reps are hard at work getting our upcoming season organized and are are available to answer any questions you may have about our program.

We know that for some of you, it has been difficult to await word about the 2021 season, and we truly appreciate your patience.  Behind the scenes, CCDSA has been meeting throughout the winter to discuss schedules, contingencies, and create proposals to gain permission from the counties in which our Clubs reside in order to hold meets.  We are pleased to announce that today, we learned that Montgomery County has approved plans for Dual (two-team) meets to be held this season!  We want our families to know that these meets very likely will not look exactly like our typical seasons - the number of swimmers per meet, the number of adults on deck and in attendance, etc. will likely be quite different.  Please know that CCSDA is doing all it can to give our children an opportunity to have as normal a summer as possible, and this will require some flexibility on all our parts.

For Manor's part, we are currently exploring additional opportunities to have our swimmers compete, including adding additional out-of-division meets, meets dedicated to our younger swimmers (where our numbers are certain to be higher), etc.  We parents can help our swimmers view this Summer Swim Season, with all its tweaks and potential out-of-the-box elements, as a positive thing by keeping a positive and patient attitude ourselves.

We do not yet know what will happen with events such as Relays, Divisionals, or Champs, as these events require extremely high numbers of attendees.  Please be assured that we will share any developments pertaining to these meets as soon as we have more information!

Hearing this news from the County today has given our team the green light to officially continue planning for the Summer ahead, and more importantly, share what we know with all of you.  While we aren't quite ready to announce firm plans at this time, here is some important information that should help you as your families coordinate your summers:

PRACTICES AND MEETS

1.  From the Tuesday after Memorial Day through the end of the MCPS school year, there will be afternoon practices - exact times TBD.

2.  Once school lets out, there will be M-F morning practices for the big team, and likely our usual T,W,Th practices for Mini's - exact times TBD, based on registration numbers.  We do not yet know whether afternoon practices will be available this season due to the registration system the pool will likely be using again this Summer, which will limit the number of members at the pool.

3.  We have a tentative meet schedule that carried over from our cancelled 2020 season, but it is contingent upon Clubs in other jurisdictions also gaining approval for their proposed meet plans.  We will share our schedule as soon as it is finalized.  Assume that in-division meets will be held T and Th evenings as usual, and anticipate that we will have additional out-of-division and age-based meets added to give all our swimmers as many opportunities as possible to swim.

4.  Our team cannot do what it does without the help of our Manor Monster parents!  We will need volunteers, including meet officials and timers, for all meets.  Since it has been two years since our last meet, officials need to be recertified.  Opportunities for virtual trainings will be held in late May and early June - we will share those dates soon!

TEAM SUITS AND SPIRIT WEAR

5.  Cassel's Sport and Trophy will once again be our vendor for suits and caps this year.  We will have an online store and they will deliver the orders here to Manor for distribution.  Our suits have not changed (navy blue with MCC crest), so if you have any that you can use from previous seasons, feel free to do so.  We will let you know when the online store is open for orders soon!

6.  We are excited to once again be partnering with Gorman's Garments & Gear for our Spirit Wear!  As with Cassel's, we will have a Manor online storefront where you can shop, and we will let you know when the store goes live soon.

COMMUNICATIONS

7.  We know that, since we haven't had a season in almost two years, we may have some families who no longer plan to swim on our Manor Monsters team this season.  We are sorry to see you go!  If you would like to be removed from this email list, please send an email directly to this email address with the subject line:  UNSUBSCRIBE.  We will make every effort to remove you as quickly as possible.

8.  Until we receive an updated email list from the Club, we will continue to use this current email list as one of our means of communicating with our Monster families.  If you know of anyone who is new to Manor since the 2019 season that would like to be added to this list, please have them send a message to this email address and we will add them ASAP!

9.  Follow us on Facebook!

That's all for now!  We hope this email helps our Manor Monster families schedule their summers and gives everyone a taste of what to expect.  We will be in touch again soon with additional info on all fronts, but in the meantime, GET THOSE REGISTRATIONS IN!!!  We have missed you all so much, and cannot wait to see everyone on deck!
