Manor Monsters Mid-Week Update

John C Mann
Greetings, Manor Monster Swim Families!

What a great evening we had last night, watching so many of our swimmers finally get to compete after what was such a long year and change for them!  We know that it was a longer evening than usual due to it being Time Trials (during which we needed every to swim as many strokes as they were able to swim, so that we could get their base times), and we thank everyone for their patience.  Generally, our meets run very efficiently and will not take that long - the last thing we want to do is scare off our volunteers LOL!  Speaking of which... thank you to all of our awesome volunteers who helped make it a successful meet!

We do have a couple of midweek updates, so here goes...

1) CAPS

We wanted to give everyone an update on the cap situation, as we know many were expecting to be able to purchase one last evening.  We didn't find out until just before warm-ups that the order for 100 caps not only had not been delivered directly to us from the manufacturer (not Cassel's), but had not even shipped yet due to issues with staffing on their end.  We did have a small number of caps to sell from the 2019 season, but obviously ran out.  We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience!  Cassel's has been in communication with the manufacturer and will let us know soon about a delivery date.

Until our caps come in, we are asking all swimmers who still need a cap to purchase a silicone or latex (preferably without another team's logo).  Our family purchased these as our backups (but Amazon has a bunch of options with fast delivery time ahead of Thursday):

A TIP FOR FAMILIES NEW TO SWIM:  the silicone doesn't snag hair as much as the latex ones, which makes them especially good for swimmers with longer hair).

2) SUITS

Suits are in (unless we have notified you otherwise)!  We have a handful that still need to be distributed - I will reach out to those families directly, and will also have them at the meet tomorrow evening!

Our neighbor, Norbeck, visits us tomorrow night!  Here are the particulars:

Date:  Thursday, June 17
Location:  Manor CC
Time:  Warm-ups at 5:20 pm;  Meet begins at 6:30 pm
What to bring:  goggles, cap (MCC if you have one, or another cap - preferably not from another team), team suit, cover-up, small activities to keep swimmers occupied between events (cards and small games are great), towel, something to wear if it gets chilly, and YOUR MANOR MANNERS
Food and beverage:  The Manor pizza oven will be available under the upstairs dining room balcony.  The Pool Snack Bar will also be open for food and beverage service.  A chit bar will be available on the pavilion.

5) VOLUNTEERS

Thank you so much to those of you who have for Thursday's meet!  We are in great shape, volunteer-wise!   We are still in need of few volunteers - Clerks of Course (help corral kids, particularly younger swimmers, to line up for their events), and Relay Takeoff Judge (must be S & T certified).  Remember, all volunteers will receive  (2) free drink tickets to be used at either bar, to be used at any home meet this season - AND YES, WE WILL HAVE ACTUAL TICKETS IN OUR POSSESSION TO GIVE YOU!  Click the links below to volunteer:

Thursday:   Norbeck @ Manor

That's all for now!  We will have another update this weekend with important info about the week ahead, including how to get your family set up with TeamUnify.  Thanks everyone - see you on deck tomorrow evening, if not before!
