Manor Monster Swim Update for the Week of 7/19/2021
Good evening, Manor Monster Swim Families!
We hope you had a fantastic weekend and stayed dry through yesterday's storms. We have LOTS of info in this Weekly Update for all swim families - Big Team, Mini's, and Divisionals Swimmers can read on for more!
1) CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR DIVISIONALS SWIMMERS - PLEASE READ THE SECOND PART OF THIS EMAIL (AFTER GENERAL TEAM INFO) FOR DIVISIONALS-SPECIFIC CONTENT!!!
Thank you so much for everybody's patience as we awaited the roster for this year's A-Division Championships (aka "Divisionals") - we Reps just needed the coaches to send it our way and are happy to get it out to you all this evening. We are
so proud of all our swimmers this season, and are excited to cheer on the following Manor Monsters when they represent our team this Tuesday evening at Washington Golf!

2) T-SHIRT PICK UP
Our team t-shirts have finally arrived and are ready for pick-up! I had a fun time drawing the design this year (thanks, Bill Shechtman, for the very apropos theme/slogan!) and hope that it inspires some 80's movie nights for your families this summer!
Steve will be delivering them to the pool tomorrow (Monday) morning for distribution ahead of Divisionals on Tuesday (and for those of you who are also on the Dive Team, for Dive Champs at the end of the week). Mini's t-shirts will be handed out at practice on Tuesday, and anyone who isn't in attendance can pick theirs up at the pool - please check with the guards! We packed all shirts in ziploc bags
by family.
3) PRACTICES THROUGH END OF SEASON
Big Team will continue to practice this week, M-F, at the usual times, even if you aren't swimming Divisionals. A final fun practice for Big Team is planned for
Monday, July 26th!
Mini's will practice Tu, W, and Th this week, and will have a chance to show off all they've learned this Summer on
Friday morning, 7/23, at our annual Popsicle Meet! We will send out an email to our Mini's parents with meet specifics in a separate email. Parents, get those cameras ready!
4) MINI MONSTERS & 10U LOLLIPOP MEET @ NORBECK - WEDNESDAY 7/21/2021
Calling all Mini's and 10U swimmers! Our neighbors at Norbeck Country Club have cordially invited us to one of the best meets of the season - the Norbeck Country Club 10U Lollipop Meet!!!
Who
: All Mini Monsters and all 10-and-unders (if you swam a specific event at Divisionals, you won't swim that event at the Lollipop Meet)
Location: Norbeck Country Club -
17200 Cashell Rd, Rockville, MD 20853
Time: Warmups are at 5:30pm; Meet starts at 6pm. Please arrive by 5:15pm.
Events
: Kickboard, 25 Free, 25 back, 25 Fly, 25 Breast. Norbeck will allow/have helpers (guards and coaches) in the water for those kids who want or need a little extra help!
Ribbons: Norbeck will award participation ribbons at the end of each race. Swimmers may take their ribbon when they get out of the water. When a swimmer is finished with
all of their races they will receive a lollipop!
Food & Beverage: Service will be available at the pool snack bar throughout the meet. There will also be a buffet available and after the meet we will be hosting a raft night in the pool. All families are welcome to stay and play in the pool!
New families - you can use your Manor Member # to order and they will bill you at our club, no cash needed!
What to bring: bathing suit (MCC if you have one), team t-shirt, towel, goggles (if your child wears them), raft (if you plan to stay and play)
5) PICTURES & PASTRIES THIS SATURDAY, JULY 24!
Please join us at the pool
this Saturday, July 24 at 10 am, for Pictures and Pastries! We will take our team photo, enjoy some treats, and for those who would like, individual photos will be taken!
6) THE 2021 MANOR MONSTER SWIM & DIVE TEAM BANQUET - REGISTER NOW!
This year and change has certainly felt like a time warp, hasn't it?! We are so glad we all got to head "Back to the Future" just in time for the 2021 Swim & Dive Season! We can't wait to celebrate another great summer of Swim & Dive with all of you next Thursday, July 29th at the Manor Monsters "Enchantment Under the Sea" Banquet!
The festivities kick off with cocktail hour at 5:30 pm, followed by a poolside dinner, awards ceremony, and DJ/dancing/pool party. Please have your kiddos dress country club casual for the dinner, and bring their suits for the party! Everyone in your family is invited, including siblings. We will celebrate in the ballroom in the case of inclement weather. Please register online:
7) 2021 DIVISIONALS INFORMATION
Date: Tuesday, July 20, 2021
Location: Washington Golf & Country Club- 3017 N Glebe Rd, Arlington, VA 22207
Time: Warm-ups from 4:30-5:30;
Meet begins at 6:00 pm
Theme: "Back to the Future" (wear your 2021 team t-shirt!)
What to bring: Team t-shirt, goggles, cap, team suit, cover-up, small activities to keep swimmers occupied between events (cards and small games are great), towel, and YOUR MANOR MANNERS - don't forget to clean up after yourselves in our team area!
Food and beverage: WGCC snack bar will be open for quick “grab and go” items throughout the meet.
As a reminder, no food is permitted on the pool deck. A buffet dinner for all participants and their families will be available beginning at 6 pm until at least 20 minutes after the last event of the meet. WGCC looks forward to seeing all teams at the buffet.
Programs/T-Shirts: CCSDA Divisional Meet Programs will be on sale at the meet.
The cost is $5 per program and payable by cash only.
League T Shirts will also be available at the front entrance of the pool area. They $20 per t shirt - cash, Venmo (@pamhjelle), or checks (payable to CCSDA)
Parking: Per WGCC, "IMPORTANT...Parking will be available on a
first come, first serve basis. We have very limited space in the parking lot adjacent to the pool. Spaces may also be found in the parking lots across Glebe Rd by our fitness and tennis facilities, and adjoining neighborhoods.
There is an underground tunnel from this lot so that families do not need to cross Glebe Rd. traffic. Please remind your teams to carpool when possible and to adhere to all parking signs.
This is extremely important.
We have recently had incidents where fire and rescue personal could not access areas due to illegally parked cars.
Those who violate parking signs will be ticketed and towed."
Volunteers: We are in need of volunteers for various official roles, timers, and t-shirt sales. Please visit our TeamUnify page to sign up - we are a smaller crew heading to Divisionals, so we need all hands on deck, if you can!
