Manor Monsters Swim Update for the Week of 6/5/2022
Greetings, Manor Monster Swim Families!
It's been great to see so many familiar faces on deck for big team practice this past week, and also fun to welcome our new families to the team. Our Head Coach, Todd Garner and his Assistant Coaches, Malec Fahmy and Lauren Kosiorowski, have really enjoyed meeting and catching up with all our Manor Monsters, and are excited to get the 2022 Summer Swim Season underway!
As you can see, Team Unify is finally up and running for the season (thanks, John Mann!!!), and we are excited to be able to use this as our means of communicating with all of you for the remainder of the season. With that in mind, that leads us to our first of many items included in this weekly update… Read on for more!
1. Team Unify
Team Unify will be your family’s one-stop shop for all communication, including sharing swimmer availability for meets and tracking your swimmer’s stats throughout the season. EVERYONE must complete their registration (invitations have been sent to all of our new families and anyone who didn’t complete their registration last season) - please take care of this ASAP. All messages will come via Team Unify this season, not Gmail.
ALL FAMILIES should log into their accounts ASAP to check name spellings (including middle initials), birth dates, genders, and phone numbers to confirm all this information is accurate. It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that you fill out the SMS field with your cell and cell carrier so that you can also receive text messages - this will come in very handy when we need to send out alerts about weather-related changes, for example! If you have any questions or issues with your account, please reach out to John Mann on the Team Unify site OR via email at [email protected] .

2. Inclement Weather
Thank you for your patience last week with the practice cancellations on Wednesday. Now that Team Unify is updated, contacting all of you if an unexpected delay or cancellation occurs will be much more efficient, as we won’t have to utilize the Club to alert you. As mentioned above, signing up for text messaging on Team Unify will help here.
Please know that often, even on weather alert days like last Wednesday, decisions are not made until close to the time of practice. We have a fast season and our Coaches’ objective is to get practice in, if at all possible. However, safety first prevails, and we are at the mercy of the lightning sirens. We will make every attempt to give you as much warning as possible via Team Unify if a change/cancellation is made, but we also ask you to use common sense and do what is best for your family if you need to make a decision to skip practice that day.
If a cancellation occurs while practice is already in motion, Coaches and pool staff evacuate the deck and you can meet your swimmer either in the pavilion or, in the case of extremely severe weather, the clubhouse. Again, use your common sense here - if the radar appears to show a storm is blowing up over our campus, it’s wise to head that way to meet your swimmer.
3. Officials Trainings
Thank you to those of you who have attended an Officials Training so far this season. Last week’s S&T had to be ended because of a Zoom bomber, so an additional make-up session has been added for 6/15. It is CRITICAL for us to have trained officials to help run meets, both at home and away. The skill sets for these positions are important, but are also absolutely something that any of us parents can easily master. Here are the remaining training opportunities for this season:
June 6 - Referee/Starter
Meeting ID: 817 2206 3848
Passcode: 306228
June 8 - Stroke and Turn, Referee and Starter
Meeting ID: 864 7262 0970
Passcode: 184460
June 15 - Stroke and Turn Make Up Meeting
Meeting ID: 875 7272 9199
Passcode: 813279
4. Last call for SPIRIT WEAR!
The deadline to order this season’s Spirit Wear is THIS THURSDAY, 6/6! Please have all orders placed by then so that we can get them turned around quickly. Special thanks to our Spirit Wear Chair, Kristy Swarthout, for getting us all decked out!

5. Suits & Caps Update
For those of you who ordered team suits, they should be in by the end of this week. I have not heard of any supply chain issues thus far - fingers crossed! I (Jenny) plan to be on deck during the Monday 6/13 practices to distribute. If this changes, I will let everyone know!
We have plenty of white MCC caps available for purchase that Monday 6/13, as well as at our meets next week. Also, we have placed an order for a collectible commemorative cap that includes Manor’s Centenary logo, and those will be in and available for purchase in another week or two. Your Manor CHIT # will be billed for all cap purchases. NOTE: All swimmers who choose to wear a cap must wear either a Manor cap or a solid colored one - no other teams or logos are permitted.

8. Volunteers
Swim & Dive Banquet Chairs:
Who doesn’t like a party?! We are in search of a few creative parents to work with the Club and Reps to plan this year’s Swim and Dive Banquet, which will be held on Thursday, July 28. The amazing Colleen Schrier has graciously chaired this event for many years now, but since neither of her kids are swimming this season, she has offered to help whoever steps into this role get organized and on their way.
This is a fun job that would be great for a couple friends to tackle together, and would entail coming up with centerpieces and other simple decor, helping plan the menu, etc. The Club helps us with invitations, tracking registrations, and other administrative tasks, and trophies are handled by other volunteers. Please chat with your friends and consider volunteering for this fun event that helps us celebrate the end of the season!

That’s it for today - as always, we are here to help!
