A Rough Season Start Led to an Unremarkable First Meet
The forty-five-member Centennial Boys Swimming team had a very rough start to its 2021-22 season. During the Cougars first two weeks of practice, the larger than normal team struggled with mechanical issues at its home pool and needed to find practice time at other pools in the area. Despite multiple canceled practices, Centennial did participate in the Northwest Suburban Conference Relay meet on December 11, 2021.
At the seaon's first meet, the Cougars placed third out of six teams. The team scores for the meet were: Spring Lake Park (348), Elk River (334), Centennial (280), Armstrong (256), Osseo (228), Champlin Park (206).
With rusty skills and little conditioning, the Cougars did turn out a second place finish in the 400-breaststroke relay event with a team of Max Scheurer, Benno Schuhbauer, Isaac Nguyen and Evan Stokkeland.
Coach Pete did acknowledge the team’s unremarkable performance at season’s first meet, but with repairs now completed at the home pool, he did state that the Cougars will be ready to take on Osseo for the season’s first dual.
