Cougar Depth Brings Victory Over the Bengals
With only four first place finishes during Centennial’s home meet with Blaine on December 12, 2021, the Cougars were able to pull out a win with a score of 93 points to the Bengal’s 87.
What carried Centennial to a victory over Blaine was the team’s depth and 87 season best times. Despite the few first place finishes, the team captured 9 second place finishes, 5 third place finishes, 6 fourth places finishes and 3 fifth places finishes. It took the whole team to tame the Bengals, who had 3 days earlier placed a head of the Cougars at the Bengal Invite meet.
Taking first for the Cougars were the 200 Medley Relay team of Dominic Stevenson, Max Scheurer, Alex Larkin, Ben Condon and the 200 Freestyle Relay team of Ben Loehr, Alex Larkin, Connor Herbrechtsmeyer, Ben Condon. Max Scheurer also captured first place in the 200 IM, and Ben Loehr finished first in the 100 freestyle.
Mr. Wick, the head coach for Blaine, said that Centennial came at them hard and did not let up. He also mentioned the Cougars were incredibly supportive of each other and treated his team with respect. He told Coach Pete that he believed that Centennial will be quite a force to be reckoned with in the future.
As the Cougars enter a week of winter break practices, it will have its eyes focused on its next challenge facing the Spring Lake Park Panthers on January 6, 2022.
