Centennial Comes Up Short in Its Battle with Armstrong
Centennial’s disappointing loss to Armstrong on January 27, 2022 brings its dual season record to 3 wins and 3 losses. The Cougars brought plenty of depth to the meet and captured many second and third or third, fourth, fifth place combinations in races but it did not have enough power to overtake the Falcons. By the end of the meet, Centennial lost with a score of 87 to 97.
Taking first for the Cougars were George Atkinsen, Max Scheurer, Alex Larkin, Connor Herbrechtsmeyer in the 200 Medley Relay; and Max Scheurer in the 100 Breaststroke.
During the meet, Head Coach Pete Crawford inspired his athletes to work hard for best times in an awfully slow Falcon pool by offering the Cougars Oreo cookies for each personal best performance turned in at the competition. The strategy appears to have worked as there were 54 personal records set during the evening by the young men.
The Cougars 3-3 record sets them up to compete against Blaine during the February 2, conference crossover meet. The team is looking forward to its return to the Northdale swimming pool to compete.
