It Was a Nailbiter, But the Cougars Prevailed Over the Bengals

Coach Kevin Setterholm

Centennial was down nine swimmers due to illnesses during its December 20, 2022 meet against Blaine.  Before the start of the meet, Head Coach Pete Crawford told his athletes, during his locker room talk, that Centennial's depth could possibly carry the team to victory if the boys wanted it enough.  Crawford said that "with the number of absences the team had, both Blaine and Centennial will be evenly matched this evening and the team that wants it more will be the team that walks away with the win."

The final score of the meet was Centennial 93 and Blaine 91.  It was a back-and-forth meet with many close races, but the Cougars wanted the win and with the great effort given by both the divers and the swimmers the team prevailed.

Taking varsity first place finishes for Centennial were:

  • 200 Freestyle – George Atkinson
