Scheurer Sets Andover Pool Record While Cougars Take a Loss
Despite taking eight first place finishes out of twelve events, Centennial lost a close meet against Andover on Thursday, January 19. The final score of the meet was Huskies 95 and Cougars 91. The meet was a back-and-forth contest between the two teams and victory was not claimed by either of them until the results of the last event were posted.
During the meet, Senior Captain Max Scheruer’s first place finish time in the 100 breaststroke of 58.02 was a pool record performance, meaning that his name will be memorialized on the home pool of Andover and Anoka for the foreseeable future.
It was hard on the Cougars to have two close losses to the Huskies in less than a week, but Head Coach Pete Crawford pointed out to the team that Centennial had sixty-eight season best performances at this dual meet and that the team as a whole is on track to enter the tournament phase of the season in peak shape.
