Centennial's 7th, 8th, and 9th Graders are Victorious at Red, White and Blue Invitational
For the second year in a row, the 7th, 8th, and 9th grade Cougars won the Red, White and Blue Invitational.
Out of the five teams that competed in the meet, Centennial struggled to stay ahead of the very strong team from Mankato West, but after Jaedyn Lynch-Rygh, Bennann Nielson, and Grant Page took four of the five top spots in the 100 Backstroke and the Centennial “A” 400 freestyle relay team of Charlie Bryant, Garrett Clark, Isaac Nhuyen, Benno Schuhbauer and the Centennial “B” 400 freestyle relay team team of Brennan Nielson, Grant Page, Chase Horstman, Gavin Manthei each beat out Mankato West's “A” and “B” relay teams, victory was in Centennial’s hands.
Assistant swimming Coach Kevin Setterholm was very impressed with how the young Cougar swimmers performed at this meet. Even though the Centennial “A” 400 freestyle relay team was the only first place finish for the Cougars, Setterholm pointed out to the young athletes that 63 of the team’s performances, or 85% of the team's swims and dives, bettered the seed times and scores that were entered in the meet lineup.
Medal winners for Centennial were:
Benno Schuhbauer, Isaac Nguyen, Charlie Bryant, Garrett Clark, Jaedyn Lynch-Rygh, Alex Peacock, Sawyer Celotta, Owen Leiter, Brennan Nielson, Brendan Chretien, Grant Page, Gavin Manthei, Chase Horstman, Evan Lautenschlager, Ethan Stegora, Devin Swenson, Elijah Manthei, Willem Nibbelink, Jackson Arseneault, Devin Swenson, Chase Horstman
