Records Fall During the Centennial and Maple Grove Dual Meet

Coach Kevin Setterholm

Centennial took an 80 to 101 loss against Maple Grove during its “Cougar’s Seniors Night” meet on January 26, 2023.

Fast times were turned in at the start of meet when both the Cougars’ 200 Medley Relay team of George Atkinson, Max Scheurer, Tyler Celotta and Ben Condon and the Crimson’s 200 Medley Relay team swam times that were quicker than the pool record.  The Crimson team’s first palce finish time of 1:40.80 was the fastest in the race so they got to claim the spot on the Centennial pool’s record board.

Throughout the meet, amazing times continued to be turned in by both teams, but it wasn’t until the 100 Breaststroke and Senior Captain Max Scheurer’s first place time of :58.75 that another Centennial pool record was broken.  Scheurer also placed first in the 200 IM earlier in the meet.

The evening concluded with a recognition ceremony that brought to light the many contributions and fun memories that Centennial senior swimmers: Zach Short, Ben Condon, Jacob Taylor, George Atkinson, and Max Scheurer have given to the team over the past four to five years.  All present at the ceremony agreed that these five amazing young men will be missed in the years to come.
