The Cougars are the Northwest Suburban Conference Junior Varsity Champions Three Years Running
For the third year in the row, the Cougars won the Northwest Suburban Conference Junior Varsity Championship Meet. Team rankings at the conclusion of the meet were: Centennial 485.5, Maple Grove 351, Andover 307, Elk River 273, Anoka 203, Spring Lake Park 160, Blaine 145.5, Champlin Park 92, Coon Rapids 91, Armstrong 68, Park Center 24, Osseo 10.
Along with 76% of the Cougars’ individual swims being lifetime best performances, there were many significant time drops such as senior swimmer Zach Short’s 8 seconds drop in the 200 IM and senior swimmer Jacob Taylor’s 4 seconds drop in the 100 backstroke. Other notable time improvements during the meet were turned in by Danny Griemann’s 11 seconds and Quinlin Wells’ 14 seconds drop in the 100 backstroke, followed by Isaac Nguyen’s 19 second drop in the 500 freestyle.
Taking first place for Centennial were:
- 200 Medley Relay – Jaedyn Lynch-Rygh, Isaac Nguyen Austin Brang, Garrett Clark
- 200 Freestyle – Isaac Nguyen
- 500 Freestyle – Isaac Nguyen
- 200 Freestyle Relay – Garrett Clark, Dylan Behrens, Sawyer Celotta, Jacob Digre
- 100 Backstroke – Jacob Taylor
- 400 Freestyle Relay – Garrett Clark, Sawyer Celotta, Jacob Taylor, Isaac Nguyen
Other Centennial ribbon winners at the meet were: Gavin Manthei, Elija Manthei, Zach Short, Tyler Celotta, Jaden Mathey, Austin Brang, Bendan Chretien, Grant Page, Brennan Nielson, and Aidan Anderson.
Head Coach Pete Crawford was very happy with how Centennial performed at this championship meet and he mentioned on the bus ride home that this victory is a very good indicator at how the team will preform at the Section Championship meet in the upcoming weeks.
