Red, White & Blue Champions Three Years Running

For the third year in a row, Centennial’s seventh, eighth and ninth graders won the Red, White and Blue Invitational meet hosted by Blaine.  The competition was tough this year, and seeing the depth sported by the top four teams, it looks like the Cougars will be facing some great competition in the years to come. 

Head Coach Pete Crawford was very pleased at the many amazing time drops that the Cougars experienced at this invitational.  After the meet he mentioned to a few parents that “it is fun to see how everything comes together after seven weeks of hard work and skill development and when the young athletes walk away with personal best times, medals and a big win.”

Taking first for Centennial was Benno Schubauer in the 50 Freestyle and Sawyer Celotta in the 100 Freestyle. 

Other individual medal winners for Centennial were: Sawyer Celotta 8th place in the 200 Freestyle, Grant page 2nd place and Devin Swenson 5th place in the 200 IM, Brennan Nielson 6th place and Benjamin Larkin 7th place in the 50 Freestyle, Blake Thorson 2nd place and Eijah Manthei 3rd place in Diving, Ethan Stegora 4th place and Devin Swenson 7th place in the 100 Butterfly, Brendan Chretien 4th place and Harvey Czapko 7th place in the 500 Freestyle, Grant Page 3rd place and Brennan Nielson 4th place in the 100 Backstroke, Benno Schuhbauer 3rd place and Alex Peacock 8th place in the 100 Breaststroke. 

The following relay teams also won medals at the meet: 200 Medley Relay – Grant Page, Benno Schuhbauer, Sawyer Celotta, Benjamin Larkin got 2nd place; Brennan Nielson, Alex Peacock, Ethan Stegora, Chase Horstman got 5th place; Brendan Chretien, Andrew Richardson, Devin Swenson, Quin Wells got 8th place.  200 Freestyle Relay – Benjamin Larkin, Chase Horstman, Devin Swenson, Harvey Czapko got 4th place; Payton Trojanowski, Alex Peacock, Blake Thrson, Quinlan Wells got 7th Place. 400 Freestyle Realy – Sawer Celotta, Brennan Nielson, Grant Page, Benno Schuhbauer got 2nd place; Harvey Czapko, Alexxander George, Ethan Stegora, Brendan Cretien got 6th place.

Team rankings at the conclusion of the meet were:

  • Centennial - 517 points

  • Maple Grove - 473 points

  • Hopkins - 442 points

  • Andover - 435 points

  • Blaine - 209 points
