A Strong Finish Against the Huskies and a Trip to Fargo

Coach Zach Roberts

Happy New Year from the Centennial Boys' Swim & Dive team!

The Cougars have made it back into their swim schedule post-Winter Break and had a dominating dual meet against the Andover Huskies this past Thursday. For many of our JV swimmers, they exerperienced relays and individual events outside of their normal freestyle races. For the varsity swimmers, they had a chance to really refine some of their main events before the True Team tournament this weekend. For head coach Pete Crawford, his swimmer of the meet was Benno Schuhbauer who won both of his individual events and played a critical part in getting his relays to first place finishes, too. Nice job, Benno!

The Andover Huskies were great hosts and we look forward to swimming against them in the invites to come!

On Friday, the Boys' Swim and Dive team headed north to Fargo, ND to particpate in their yearly Border Battle at Hulburt Aqautics Center, a wonderful facility where all-time swimming greats like Michael Phelps, Katie Ledecky and Lilly King have all battled for spots on the US Olympic team.

As the boys made it to a sub-zero-degree Fargo, they spent Friday evening team-bonding at a "Ninja Warrior" gym, working through the obstacle courses available and getting out excess energy they might have had from a three-and-a-half bus ride. Saturday morning, the boys got an early start to make it to the pool to warm up. There, they swam and dove against 13 other teams, seeing some of the best competition around from the two states. After a long day of races (13 heats of the 50Fr!?), the boys took a strong 6th place out of 14 teams. For Coach Crawford, Isaac Nguyen was the swimmer of the meet. Not only did Isaac have great swims, but he played a strong role as captain making sure swimmers were where they needed to be all weekend. Way to step up, Isaac!

Catch the Boys' Swim & Dive Team this coming Thursday as they head to Spring Lake Park to take on the Panthers at their pool. Meet starts at 6!
