A Trip to Irondale to Finish Up The Regular Season

Coach Zach Roberts

Good evening from the Centennial Cougars Boy's Swim & Dive Team!

This past Tuesday, the boys travelled to Edgewood Middle School to take on the Irondale Knights, culminating in a tough loss against a non-conference team. Even with a loss, there were some major celebrations to be had for a handful of our JV swimmers who had season best times (or for some, personal bests!) Trenton Kuznia, Henry Wold, and Isaac Vail all reached their fastest times of the season in their 100 Freestyle, while Blake Buda had a personal best in his 100 Backstroke and Antonio Cordova dropped a whopping 7 seconds in his 200 Freestyle.

There were some great performances on the diving board as well! With a total score of 169.90, Blake Thorson took first place in diving while Elijah Manthei took a third place with 162.80. Caleb Saucier celebrated a large victory by performing his first ever set of six legal dives in a legal order. Great job all around, divers!

With regular season dual meets now finished, the varsity boys enter "Hell Week" before they hit the taper part of their season- be sure to keep an eye out for Coach Pete Crawford's emails as the practice schedule will be different to allow the boys to recover and rest as they approach the section tournament.

Lastly, this weekend, the Junior Varsity boys end their season with JV Champs on Saturday at Northdale Middle School. Come cheer them on as many of them will race in their first season-end tournament ever and show everyone just how much they have developed as athletes over the last three months (and for some since this past summer!). If the boys can place fast enough in their events, Centennial will take home 1st place at JV Champs for the 5th year in a row!

We look forward to seeing you all there! Roll Cougs!
