A Strong Start to the 25-26 Boys' Swim & Dive Season!
Good evening from the Boys' Swim & Dive Team here at Centennial High School!
Just two weeks into the season and the boys' are off to a strong 1-0 start with a decisive victory over the Anoka Tornadoes. Unlike seasons prior, the boys had their first Friday Night meet in recent memory to cap off a long weekend back from Thanksgiving Break. There was a lot to be thankful for at this first meet from best times to first swims and great dives! The Cougars won 7 of the 12 events. Outstanding performances include Brendan Chretien winning the 200 freestyle (1:58.16) who didn't break 2 minutes until sections last year and now did it 1st meet, and took 2nd in 500 freestyle (5:28.33). He along with Isaac Nguyen, Blake Thorson, and Grant Page won the 400 free relay with a time of 3:40.26. Isaac Nguyen also was a part of the winning 200 Medley relay with Benno Schuhbauer, Grant Page, and Eliot Shepard with a time of 1:46.45. Individually Isaac won the 200 Medley with a time of 2:10.72 and took 2nd in 100 backstroke with a time of 1:01.31. Grant Page won the 100 backstroke with a time of 59.55 breaking 1 min for the 1st time and took 2nd in the 100 butterfly with a time of 58.65. Blake Thorson rounded out the winning in taking 1st in diving with a score of 203.90 breaking 200 for the first time with a 6 dive list. It was a 1, 2, 3 finish by the cougars in the 100 backstroke and a 2, 3, 4 finish in breastroke that really sealed the win for Centennial.
This week is a busy one as the boys take on THREE meets this week; Tomorrow they swim at Irondale against the Knights, Thursday they defend the den here at our pool, and on Saturday the varsity swimmers head to Northdale pool to participate in the annual Bengal Invite (where they will swim against 10 other teams!)
Come cheer the boys on as they dive feet first into the deep end with their meets this week!
