Cougars Rout Panthers on Broadcast Television
Good evening from the Centennial Boys' Swim & Dive Team!
Last night, the Centennial Cougars travelled to Spring Lake Park High School to take on the Panthers in their third conference meet of the season. With a decisive 95-77 victory, the Cougars flexed the depth of their team as they swam and dove their way to a win. As is common in the winter season sports, sickness coupled with injury becomes rampant and when they needed to step up, many of the younger swimmers answered the call. The Cougars had a lot of great swims last night, including a 1,2,3 finish in the 200yd Freestyle, 100yd Butterfly, 100yd Freestyle, and the 500yd Freestyle. Additionally, Blake Thorson and Grey Wells took 1st and 2nd, respectively, during diving, with Grey having a PR of 137.15. Way to go divers!
Head Coach Pete Crawford's swimmer of the meet was Drew Richardson, as his 3rd place finish in the 500yd freestyle gave the team the points they needed to lock in a victory for the night. Drew's dedication to his swimming this offseason was put to the test yesterday evening, having him swim events outside of his normal set and finishing strong on each.
As the boys move into their winter break, they look forward to the upcoming Alumni get together in a couple weeks as well as a border battle up in Fargo after the new year.
The boys' team would like to extend a warm Happy Hanukkah, Merry Christmas, Happy Kwanzaa, and a Happy New Year to everyone!
