Fort Myer Swim Team

General Information

Practice times are assigned by age group and developmental ability, and are held at the Patton Hall 25m pool. The Junior Group consists mostly of 7-8-year-olds plus about half of the 5-6-year-olds. The Intermediate Group consists mostly of 9-12-year-olds. The Senior Group consists of 13-18-year-olds. The Coach will assign swimmers to groups depending on age and ability. We cannot take special requests for practice times.

Prior to the end of the school year, practices are held after school in the early evening. Practices will be held in all three-time slots Monday - Friday. It is not required for swimmers to attend all practices. The coach would like to see your swimmer at least 2 to 3 times per week. However, improvement comes faster with more practice, so if your schedule allows try to attend every practice! Particularly with younger swimmers, if it is too much to practice the morning after an evening meet, parents should use their own judgment about practice attendance.

In the afternoons from 1655-1705 (4:55 pm to 5:05 pm), Retreat is sounded on the Base. All swimmers must cease their activities and remain still in the water during this period. FMST members are expected to stand and pay their respect to the American Flag during the playing of Retreat.

Afternoon Practices (May 27, 2025 - June 20, 2025)

Monday - Friday

4:30-5:15 PM: Juniors (5-8 year olds)

5:15-6:15 PM: Intermediates (9-12 year olds)

6:15-7:15 PM: Seniors (13-18 year olds)

Morning Practices (June 23, 2025 - July 11, 2025)

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday

6:45-7:45 AM: Seniors (13-18 year olds)

7:45-8:45 AM: Intermediates (9-12 year olds)

8:45-9:30 AM: Juniors (5-8 year olds)

Wednesdays

7:00 - 8:00 AM: 9-10 year olds
