When is the FHS swim season?

FHS swims dual division meets beginning in October and continuing through mid-February for State qualifiers.  The season ends with the MTHSSA High School Regional (end of January) and the Tennessee High School State (Mid-February) meets for qualifying swimmers.  Qualifying time standards can be found on the "Links" page.

 

Where and when does the swim team practice? 

FHS practices at Williamson County's Indoor Sports Complex, located at 920 Heritage Way, Brentwood, TN. Swimmers are expected to attend 4 practices a week.  Swimmers must communicate with the coach if they need to miss practices.  Our practice schedule is as follows:

Mondays 6-7 am

Tuesday/Thursday 3:30-4:30 pm

Wednesday/Friday 5:30-6:30 am

My child swims for a year-round club, where do they practice?

Year-round club swimmers will primarily practice with their club teams, and represent FHS at swim meets.  Club swimmers are welcome to occasionally swim with the FHS team if their schedules allow.

 

What gear is included with my registration, and what do I need to purchase on my own?

Athletes will receive a team tshirt, sweatshirt, and swim cap with their registration.  Additional items will be available after registration.  All swimmers will need to purchase their own practice suit(s) and goggles.

 

How will my child get to practices and meets?

Families will need to arrange their own transportation to and from practices, meet, and events. 

 

What events do we swim at meets?

50 Free, 100 Free, 200 Free, 500 Free, 100 Back, 100 Breast, 100 Fly, 200 IM, 200 Free Relay, 400 Free Relay, 200 Medley Relay.  Swimmers can swim 2 individual events and 2 relays in a meet.

 

Do I need to be a really fast swimmer to be on the team?

Swimmers must be able to complete a 50 yard swim unassisted.  Swimmers join the team with varying levels of experience.  Most swimmers have some previous recreational (summer swimming) experience, some have been part of middle school teams, and some are competitive year-round club swimmers.   If you have questions about whether you are ready for the team, contact us to set up an evaluation.

 

Do you use Final Forms?

Since FHS Swim & Dive is a club sport at Franklin High School, we cannot use Final Forms.  Before a swimmer is allowed in the water, a sports physical form dated after 2/15/25 must be emailed to [email protected].  All other release forms are signed during the registration process.
