Age Group Qualifications

Age is determined for the entire season by the swimmer’s age on May 31. A coach may “age-up” a swimmer to fill in an event, but the swimmer cannot swim the same stroke and distance more than once. 6 and under swimmers will be able to “age-up” during dual meets only. No swimmer will be able to “age up” during Finals.

Graduating high school seniors will be allowed to swim the summer season immediately following their graduation from high school as long as the swimmer is not older than 18 on May 31. Regardless of age, the summer season immediately following a swimmer’s graduation from high school shall be the swimmer’s final year of eligibility.

 Family Volunteer Commitment

The Fox Hills Swim Team is a parent run organization. To ensure a successful swim season, we rely on the volunteer efforts of our team parents. Families are to sign up for volunteer opportunities through our website. Each family is typically responsible for fulfilling 4 volunteer points per season.  We will clarify the amount of volunteer points each family is responsible for after registration is completed each year. Each unfulfilled point will be charged $50, to be paid in full by the end of the swim team season.

Communication

Most of the team information and updates will be communicated via email and through the team web site. It is imperative that you check your email regularly. In addition, team families will have a folder in the swim team mailbox located at the guard shack. Please check this folder regularly.

Refunds

Once practice begins, refunds will be provided for up to two weeks, minus a $25 non-refundable deposit and any applicable credit card transaction fees.

Team Suits

To promote team spirit and continuity, swimmers are encouraged to have a team suit.  Team suits can be purchased through the Varsity Shop Web Site.  It is recommended that swimmers wear their team suit for competitive meets only.

Swim Team Practice

For swimmers and coaches to achieve the best results during practice, only swimmers should be at the pool, and only at their assigned practice time. If parents need to speak with the coaches, please reach out by phone or email.  Swimmers should bring goggles, swim cap, towel, sunscreen, water, and tennis shoes for dry land exercises.

Dual Meets

Times are subject to change, but typically for weekday meets, warm up for the home team is 5:00pm. Warm up for the visiting team is 5:30pm. Swim meet starts at 6:15pm.

For weekend meets, warm up for the home team is at 8:00am. Warm up for the visiting team is at 8:30am. Swim meet starts at 9:15am.

Upon arriving at the swim meet, swimmers are required to check the posted line up for their name and scheduled events. Contact the coach immediately if there are any questions or concerns.

Swimmers are required to swim in 1 dual meet to participate in the Final League Meet.

Each swimmer may swim four events per meet in any dual meet but shall be limited to a maximum of two individual events and two relay events.  Mixed relays must consist of two men and two women.

Exhibition heats help swimmers establish or improve their times. Participation ribbons are awarded for these heats; however, points are not scored. These heats are very important for a swimmer’s development and team experience.

Finals

This championship meet is the culminating event of the season. All swimmers that have participated in at least 1 swim meet are encouraged to participate. All five teams come together to compete.  Finals are scheduled for the weekend of July 19, 2025 at Great Lakes Athletic Club.  Finals will be 2 days, Saturday and Sunday, with the top 12 in each event coming back on day 2 to swim for a medal.  More information to come.
