Video Stroke Analysis
Any age swimmer is allowed to sign up. But, be aware that younger swimmers may not be at the level to truly get the most out of this experience. They have to remain focused for 45 minutes in a one-on-one setting and have the ability to remember and retain a lot of information at one time. I am not trying to deter younger swimmers. It won’t hurt! I just want to set realistic expectations. A 9-year-old will still gain knowledge and experience, just maybe a little less than a 14- or 15-year-old during something like this.
Swimmers will come in and warm up a little bit. We will do some video of each swimmer. Then, we will review that footage and look at some other footage of high-level swimmers to learn and compare. The remaining time will be spent doing drills and working on whatever we filmed. $50 per session will be billed through the swim team website following each session.
Sign up here. These dates are also posted on the team website for future reference.

December 26th 9am – 1pm
December 28th 9am – 1pm
I can always add times if needed. We will see what kind of interest there is on these dates. If this is something you would like to see more of, let me know.
Christmas Break Schedule
The only canceled day from our regularly scheduled programming is December 25th.
The only change to our original calendar is December 29th is now the Christmas Party rather than conditioning. Merry Christmas from me to the athletes 😊.
High School Workout Dates
December 24, 26, and 28 from 730am – 900am.
January 1st from 715pm-845pm.
These are not required. But keep in mind how much work these athletes have put in at Aqua Culture and now every day with their high school teams. Taking nearly two weeks off in the middle of the season can really impact their fitness level. I selected a handful of dates to give people options. I know many people have plans. Hopefully, with this many options, everyone will get in the water a couple extra times over break.
Middle Schoolers are also welcome December 28th, because we have the extra space that day.
Team Records from December as of 12/21
Matviy Pelesh 50 Fly(31.50) and 100 Fly(1:17.94)
Ella La Fleur 50 Fly (31.76)
Becca Korboi 50 Breast (42.29 and 100 Breast(3:47.36)
Looking at future competitions (Marlins and above)
As you look forward to the January Meet… keep in mind that this is our last, more conclusive meet of the season. We are basically training for championships from now on. Our February meet is designed to be a last-chance effort to make states or improve on main events before our end-of-season championship meet, where they will be put in all their best strokes again. So, there are a lot of off events being swum in January because it is likely to be the last time they swim some of these off events this year.
Championships
Championships are complicated for those of you who are new, so feel free to ask questions. I just wanted to introduce some of the information to you and get the dates on your calendar to ensure availability.
The existing meet notices are posted online. Cherry Blossom Champs does not have this year’s meet notice yet. I posted last year’s, so you can see what it is like. I have attached the qualifying times for State Champs. If your swimmer does NOT meet the qualifying times for any of these meets, they will attend the Cherry Blossom Championship meet, which is open to all.
Two common questions I expect to get…
- Which meet do I commit to on the team website?
- Everyone qualifies for Cherry Blossom Champs, so everyone should be committing to that meet if you are available. You should commit your swimmer to states if they have already qualified or if they are close. Plan to attend. That way, when they do qualify, you and I are both prepared to turn in entries.
- Does my swimmer have to swim on multiple days?
- Championships, regardless of your swimmer’s speed, is our time to wrap up the season and compete in all of the major events! I do expect each swimmer attend both days of their qualified meet. Some will also swim on Friday. Some will even swim in multiple championship meets if they only qualify in one event for States.
Thanks,
Coach Galen
