Weekly BGHS Swim/Dive Update (4/26)
Good morning Gaels! Apologies for the weekly update coming a little later than usual. We had a very competitive meet this past Saturday against a few of the best teams in the Valley. Our team picked up right where left off prior to Spring Break and continued to improve across all of our events. We ended up taking 2nd place overall on the girls side and 3rd on the boys, just behind Faith Lutheran.
With only 1 "regular season" meet remaining, we are putting on our finishing touches on the season. These next two meets will be the swimmers final opportunities to post times and earn spots on our Regionals roster. Keep coming to practice every day and working hard Gaels!
Week 7 Meet: Pavilion PM Session & Senior Day!
This week, we race Saturday, April 30 at Pavilion Center Pool in the afternoon session.
The commitment deadline for the meet has passed, if you need to change your commitment, email/text Coach Michael Right away.
Since this is our last "dual" meet, we will be recognizing our Seniors prior to the meet starting with a brief ceremony and pictures. Senior parents, please come to the meet if you're available! Our informal recognition will take place in our team area after warm-ups, before the meet starts. We have THIRTEEN (13!) Seniors graduating next month.
Final details with arrival times, event line-up, etc, will be sent out Friday.
Postseason Meets
The information below is copy and pasted from the previous email blast about the Championship season. If your availability has changed for Regionals or State, please let Coach Michael know immediately. We will be posting line ups for these meets the middle of next week.
Cheryl Grossman Last Chance Invite - Monday, May 2 at Pavilion Center (
Event Page)
This meet has a few purposes. The primary purpose for most teams is to give their athletes a Last Chance to race before Regionals. Secondly, it is an opportunity to get a 3rd meet in for those who haven't met their 3 meet requirement yet. For BG, this meet will mainly serve as the final meet for those who are not on our Regional Team and chance to race again. Warm-up will be right after school. We will NOT have practice this night due to the meet.

NIAA 5A Regionals - Swimming PRELIMS - Tuesday, May 10 at Pavilion Center ( Event Page)
The NIAA State Championship series begins with our local Regional Championship meet. Because this is a championship meet, we are limited to only having 4 entries in each individual event and 1 relay. This is our Championship meet and we are entering with our best, most competitive line up possible. Therefore, not everyone will compete at Regionals and it is possible you may only swim one event.
The format for prelims is only individual events. The top 16 from Tuesday's prelims advance to Saturday's Finals session. Warm-ups will start right after school, the meet will start around 4:00pm and conclude around 8:00pm.
NIAA 5A Regionals - Swimming FINALS - Saturday, May 14 at Pavilion Center (
Event Page)
The top 16 individual qualifiers from Prelims will compete in Finals on Saturday afternoon. All relays will be competed in this session. Finals is used to determine who advances to the NIAA State Championship the following week. To make State, you must finish in the top 4 in the Championship Final (A-Final) at Regionals. This goes for both individuals and relays.

**SENIORS DISNEY TRIP: I have been made aware that the annual Senior Class trip to Disney is on Friday, May 13 and you are scheduled to return to Vegas early Saturday morning. If because of this trip, you are not willing to race in the Regional Final's in the afternoon, please decline from attending prelims. It is not fair for you to take a spot in finals from a teammate that is able to attend both prelims & finals. This Senior trip conflict happens every year and always requires the Seniors to make a tough decision. Feel free to talk to me about it during practice.
NIAA 5A State Championship - Saturday, May 21 at Pavilion Center Pool (
