Weekly BGHS Swim/Dive Update - Mar. 24, 2024

This past Saturday, the Gaels took on Faith Lutheran High School in our first "real" dual meet of the season. Faith Lutheran is a very strong opponent for us as they compare well with both their team size and number of experienced swimmers. As a result there was some great racing throughout the meet. When the final tally came in our, our girls team fell to the Crusaders 189-96, while our boys won by a score of 156-130.
 
That said, the Coaching Staff is very pleased with our performances! Even coming off Spring Break and a training week where we really pushed the swimmers in practices, they all stepped up and continued to give their best. There was obvious improvement in our relay starts and turns. We saw a number of teammates also step up to fill roster holes in events that were out of their comfort zone... and they crushed it! Way to go Gaels!

No Practice 3/29 or 4/1!
Due to the Easter holiday and no school, we will  NOT have practices on Friday, March 29 (Good Friday) OR Monday, April 1 (Easter Monday).
 
We WILL have regular practices the other days this week, including Thursday which is an "online" school day from my understanding. We hope you all have a wonderful Easter holiday :)
 
 
Upcoming Meet Commitment Deadline: Week 6 vs Foothill
We do NOT have a meet this Saturday, March 30 due to the Easter Holiday weekend.
 
If you haven't already, please log into your TU account and commit to our next meet vs Foothill.  The sign up deadline is Sunday, April 7! We will verify with the kids today at practice or via text. If you missed the deadline, please email me ASAP and we will get you signed up. While you are logged in, go through the rest of the season and commit to the remaining meets. You can always change your commitment if something comes up.
 
Arrival times, line-ups, relays, etc will all be published at the end of the week.
 
Reminder all student athletes must compete at over half of our meets to receive a Varsity Letter.
 
Commit to each meet via TU by:
  1. Log in to the TU site
  2. Go to the Meets tab
  3. Click the red "EDIT COMMITMENT" button for the meet you are RSVPing for
  4. Click on the name of the member you are RSVPing for
  5. Declare "yes" or "no" that you can attend the meet
    • If you have a special circumstance where you might be late, need to leave early, or anything else the coaches need to know, = elaborate accordingly in the notes field
  6. Click "Save changes"
