Weekly BGHS Swim/Dive Update - April 24, 2023

The Gaels had a very competitive meet this past Saturday in sunny Henderson. We took on the defending Girls 5A State Champs and runner-up boys and boy did we have some fun, close races. When the dust settled, Coronado ended up pulling away from the girls by a good margain. On the boys side, we fell to the Cougars by ONE POINT, 143-142. That goes to show how important EVERY race is and every point counts. Great racing Gaels, it is truly amazing how much improvement we are seeing week to week.

Please make sure you are signing up for meets ahead of time and getting your swims in. We are less then a month away from the first day of our Regional Championships... and the next few weeks will fly by! A reminder you must do a minimum of 3 meets to be eligible for the NIAA Regional meets and to earn a varsity letter. There are Regional qualifying times that must be met to swim an event individually. Those qualifying times can be found here.

No Practice Friday, April 28

We will NOT have practice this Friday, 4/28 because CCSD does not have school. All teammates are encouraged to swim with your club teams or try go swim/workout on your own! If you do swim on your own, please be respectful of the facilities and make sure to pay the daily lap swim fee, if they have one.

Upcoming Meet Commitment Deadline: Week 8 vs Palo Verde

If you haven't already, please log into your TU account and commit to our next meet vs Palo Verde.  The sign up was yesterday! We will verify with the kids at practice or via text. If you missed the deadline, please email me ASAP and we will get you signed up. While you are logged in, go through the rest of the season and commit to the remaining meets. You can always change your commitment if something comes up.

 

Arrival times, line-ups, relays, etc will all be published at the end of the week.

 

Reminder all student athletes must compete at over half of our meets to receive a Varsity Letter.

 

1. Log in to the TU site
2. Go to the Meets tab
3. Click the red "EDIT COMMITMENT" button for the meet you are RSVPing for
4. Click on the name of the member you are RSVPing for
5. Declare "yes" or "no" that you can attend the meet
   • If you have a special circumstance where you might be late, need to leave early, or anything else the coaches need to know, = elaborate accordingly in the notes field
6. Click "Save changes"
