The High Woodlands Swim Team  offers training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels. It is the goal of the team to offer age-specific training for all athletes geared towards challenging and developing each individual to the best of his/her abilities.

Mini-Dolphins

Mini-Dolphins are kids aged 4 and up, generally neighborhood residents or pool members, and/or younger siblings of competitive team-members, who want to have that Dolphin experience but are not quite ready for the regular team.  To join the Mini-Dolphins, they need to be able to swim independently the width of the pool, and to tread water for at least a minute.  Swimmers in this group focus on meeting the requirements for joining the team, meaning being safe in the deep end, and able to swim the length of the pool.  Mini-Dolphins have a much lower swimmer-to-coach ratio, and therefore do not begin practices until morning practices begin when school is out, and will be Monday thru Thursday from 9:15 to 9:45AM.  Mini-Dolphins who are ready will swim in an exhibition heat at our last home meet. 

8 and Unders

Swimmers can swim the length of the pool without touching bottom or using the ropes to aid them. They do not need to know all the strokes. Swimmers in this group focus mainly on learning four legal competitive strokes, having fun, and perfecting start and turn technique.        

Workout Days/Times:  Monday thru Thursday 7:00 to 7:30PM until school is out, 8:45 to 9:15AM thereafter.

9 - 10 Year Olds

Swimmers can swim the length of the pool without touching bottom or using the ropes to aid them. They do not need to know all the strokes. Swimmers in this group focus mainly on learning four legal competitive strokes, having fun, and perfecting start and turn technique.

Workout Days/Times: Monday thru Thursday 7:30 to 8:00PM until school is out, 8:15 to 8:45AM thereafter.

11-12 Year Olds 

Swimmers in this group continue to learn four legal competitive strokes, have fun, and perfect start and turn technique. They begin to work on endurance.

Workout Days/Times:  Monday thru Thursday 8:00 to 8:30PM until school is out, 7:30 to 8:15AM thereafter.

13-14 Year Olds

Swimmers in this group continue learning four legal competitive strokes, having fun, and perfecting start and turn technique. They also continue to work on endurance.                                                     

Workout Days/Times:  Beginning Monday, 5/12, the 13-14yos will practice along with the 15&Os, so the that means Monday thru Thursday 8:30 to 9:30PM.  Those swimmers who might have a problem with the late end are welcome to get out at 9:00 or 9:15.  Once school is out, they will continue to practice with the 15&Os from 6:30 to 7:30AM.

15 and Olders 

These are the leaders on the team. Many have been with the team since they were able to and can help with the younger kids at meets and practices.  Swimmers in this group continue  perfecting four legal competitive strokes, having fun, and perfecting start and turn technique. They also continue to work on endurance.

Workout Days/Times:  Beginning Monday 5/12, the 15&Os will practice along with the 13-14yos, which means Monday thru Thursday 8:30 to 9:30PM until school is out, and 6:30 to 7:30AM thereafter.  This provides a longer workout for both groups.
