Lee Graham Swim & Dive Teams

What equipment does my swimmer need?

Practice suit: Many swim stores sell discontinued or solid color suits for a reduced price on a rack called “practice suits.” Having a suit to use at practice rather than the team suit will prolong the life of your team suit. Always rinse suits in tap water after being in the pool to get rid of damaging chlorine. Swimoutlet.com is another good source for discounted suits.

Team suit: A new team suit is selected every two years. The 2025 and 2026 suit is the Nike Hydrastrong Pool Lanes Blue Green. There are two different back styles for girls to choose from - racerback back or cutout back.  Boys can choose between briefs or jammers.  We have coordinated special pricing through Sport Fair in Arlington - be sure you mention Lee Graham to get a discount. Simply go directly to Sport Fair to try on and buy your suit. Please note that swimsuits for competition are sized much differently that normal swimsuits and are supposed to fit fairly tight. The experts at Sport Fair can help you size the suit before buying. Be sure to write your name in it. It isn’t mandatory to get a team suit – plenty of kids don’t get them.

Goggles: These are a must for the comfort of your swimmer’s eyes. Buy a decent pair, and write your swimmer’s name on them. Getting a few extra pairs for the summer never hurts.

Cap: A necessity for swimmers with long hair at every practice and all swimmers during races. Each swimmer will receive a team cap with registration.

Towel: Two towels are always a good idea, especially at meets.

Fins: The coaches would like all swimmers to have fins for practices. You can buy these at a swim store, online (Amazon or SwimOutlet) or at a sports store.

Optional items:

  • A swim bag for carrying towels, goggles, etc..  Mesh bags are a great option for carrying fins and all of the items that stay wet.
  • At the beginning of the season, when the air temperature or the water temperature is still cool, sweatshirts and sweatpants are recommended.
  • Swimmers should also bring water bottles to meets and practices every single day.
  • Sunscreen!
