Happy New Year, Overlook Swim Families!

It may seem like a strange time to do so with snow on the ground, but we are excited to reach out to you with the first 2025 edition of Overlook News Splash! You will be hearing from us monthly between now and May, and we will switch to weekly newsletters in June and July when things really pick up. 

Team leaders and coordinators met this past week to kick off the season, and we have a few items to share with all parents and swimmers. 

REGISTRATION

  • Registration opens this year on Tuesday, March 25 and will close on Friday, May 16.
  • Please be aware that there will be a $10 per swimmer registration fee increase this year. We will still have tiered discounts for multiple swimmers. 
  • There is a scholarship program available. If you are interested, please contact Matt Hutchison at 717-299-4480 x 3105. 

PRACTICE

  • Indoor practice begins Monday, May 19 at Manheim Township High School pool, 115 Blue Streak Blvd. 
  • Outdoor practice begins Monday, June 9 at Overlook Pool, 301 Golf Drive.

OPEN VOLUNTEER POSITIONS

Overlook Swim Team is in search of a few remaining parent leader and coordinator positions for the 2025 season. Please contact Matt Hutchison for details and to express interest (717-299-4480 x 3105). 

Throughout the season, we utilize parent volunteers to serve in various roles to support the team. The following positions remain open at this time:

  • Timing Coordinator
  • Volunteer Coordinator
  • Set Up/Tear Down Coordinator
  • Overlook Relays Coordinator
  • Swim Meet Leader

​These positions must be filled before the season can begin as they are vital to the success of the team. All parents who serve in 1- or 2-year terms are provided with comped registration: coordinator positions are compensated with one swimmer registration fee, and leader positions are compensated with two swimmer registration fees. 

These swim-meet heavy positions help the team operate at our home/away meets. All knowledge can be learned, but we need some willing parent volunteers to teach! 

OVERLOOK RELAYS & LSSL RED DIVISIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Save the date for both Overlook Relays on June 12 and the LSSL Red Divisional Championship Meet on July 19! Overlook Swim Team plans to host these events in the 2025 season, but we need your help in doing so. Over the next few months planning will occur for these events, and we will ask for volunteer help in day-of-event roles from every Overlook family. Parent volunteerism is expected at various meets throughout the season, but all swim families should plan to volunteer at these two events. We will be hosting multiple teams at what will be our most important fundraising events of the year. We are excited to have the opportunity to host these meets!
