Overlook News Splash No. 2, February 2025: Volunteer Needs, Swim Meet Schedule, Important Dates

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Parent Coordinator Positions Still Open

The team looks for parent volunteers to help with various administrative tasks throughout the season. For 2025, we're still in search of a Timing Coordinator (Colorado), Setup & Teardown Coordinator and Overlook Relays Coordinator. To emphasize the importance of these roles, each parent serving in a coordinator role will receive registration paid for one of their swimmers. 10 of the 13 volunteer coordinator roles have committed to serving the team for the 2025 season - one of these last few people could be you!

Overlook Relays Coordinator is a role which must be filled by March 16th to hold Overlook Relays in 2025. Without a dedicated person to lead this effort, the event will not occur. As the Overlook Relays Coordinator, you would serve in the following areas:

• Coordinate RSVPs and communication to league teams
• Coordinate the swimmer staging plan for this event
• Coordinate any Overlook Relays-specific volunteer needs with the Volunteer Coordinator
• Compile the Overlook Relays Packet (parking/logistis/event plan) for communication to league teams

Stroke and Turn Judges

Stroke and turn judging is a critical job for our summer swim meets. In the past couple of seasons, we have had some of our judges "graduate" with their swimmers, and we are in need of new families to step up to learn this important job. A terrific benefit is that stroke and turn judges always have an amazing view of the meet! A training session will be held in June - stay tuned for more information.

Day-of-Meet Volunteer Needs

Save the date for both Overlook Relays on June 12 and the LSSL Division I Championship Meet on July 19! Just a friendly reminder that we will ask for volunteer help in day-of-event roles from every Overlook family. Parent volunteerism is expected for the various meets throughout the season, but all swimming families should plan to volunteer at these two events. We will be hosting multiple teams at what will be our most important fundraising events of the year. We are excited to have the opportunity to host these meets!

SWIM MEET SCHEDULE

Good news! The swim meet schedule has been published on the Overlook Swim Team website. We would be grateful if you would consider planning vacations around the summer meet calendar. It goes a long way in boosting team spirit - as well as the success of the team - to see your shining faces at meets!
