MANDATORY PARENT MEETING, MONDAY AND TUESDAY MAY 19th AND 20th

Please plan on attending one of the two mandatory parent meetings. There is no need to attend both; we are arranging two duplicate meetings to accommodate 10U and 11+ swimmer practice times. If you have swimmers in both groups, please choose whichever one you prefer. They will be held at the Manheim Township High School pool in the open area between the doorway through which you enter the pool and the diving boards.

• 11+ parents: Tuesday, May 20th at 4:45 pm

Swim Meet Volunteer Positions - Sign Up Today!

All volunteer meet positions (except Divisionals) are now posted and available on the Overlook swim meet page. We invite you to sign up for positions now - the earlier you do so, the better the chance you grab the ones you want! 

Scoring Training, May 29th/June 4th, 6:30 - 8 pm

We are currently recruiting scoring volunteers. In order to sign up for this volunteer position this season, please attend one training session: May 29th or June 4th from 6:30 to 8 pm. Contact Jessica Northen at [email protected] or text 412-443-7481 to confirm and get address details. 

Stroke and Turn Training, June 1st, 6-8pm

If you are interested in becoming a stroke and turn official for Overlook, please plan on attending a two-hour Zoom call offered by the LSSL League on Sunday, June 1st from 6 to 8 pm. Please email Chaley Bulla at [email protected], and she will forward Zoom link details to you.

Finish Judge Training

Interested in becoming an Overlook finish judge? We will be conducting a training session at the Blue & White Intrasquad Meet on June 12th. If you are interested, please either contact Julie Slabinski at [email protected] or sign up on the swim meet schedule to be a finish judge (there are currently two open slots) at the Blue & White Intrasquad Meet where we will conduct on-the-job training.

BLUE & WHITE INTRASQUAD MEET, JUNE 12th, OVERLOOK POOL

We would like to let you know about a new event we have added to this summer's swim meet calendar. The Blue & White Intrasquad Meet is an internal competition where members of the Overlook Swim Team will race against each other. It is organized primarily as a training tool, intended to help our swimmers simulate the pressures and pacing of a real meet without leaving their home pool. Times will be recorded for progress tracking, but the focus is more on learning and improvement than on winning. 

This meet is also a great opportunity for parent volunteers to get involved, try out different volunteer roles, and learn how meets operate - all in a low-stakes, supportive setting. 

REQUEST FOR SWIM PRACTICE TRANSPORTATION HELP JUNE 23-JULY 14

One of our swim families is looking for volunteers to help with rides to and from 9:00 - 10:30 am practices on Mondays - Thursdays during the weeks of 6/23, 6/30, 7/7 and 7/14. They live near Community Park off Petersburg Road. The family is currently navigating chemotherapy treatments and would appreciate having a couple of contacts who might be able to assist. BIG BUDDY PROGRAM

Sign up here!

We invite your swimmer to participate in our wonderful Big Buddy program! The goal is to pair older and younger swimmers together so they can socialize at the pool and cheer each other on at events. 

Parents, if your swimmer is ten years of age or older, please consider signing them up to be a Big Buddy. All swimmers nine and younger automatically receive a Big Buddy and do not need to sign up. Buddies will be paired at the start of ourdoor practices in June.

MEET THE COACHES

We are fortunate to have a truly excellent team of coaches lending their care and expertise to our swimmers this summer. We would like to take a moment to introduce you to them here. You will have an opportunity to meet them in person soon as practice begins. 

Head Coach Cody Kimmel: Hello All! This is my 5th year coaching here at Overlook, and it will be my 12th year involved in the Lancaster Summer Swim League. I am excited to come back and be a part of this organization. Other than coaching Overlook, I am a private swim lesson instructor at Universal and own my own fitness business with the mother of my children, Amy. I am lucky to have a family of 6 children, Isabella, Gabriel, Joshua, Sebastian, Maverick and Maximus. If there is anything I can help with in or out of the pool, do not be afraid to reach out! 

Assistant Coach Kiran George: I am currently a 4-8 grade Math/Science Education student at Shippensburg University. Over the summer, I am a manager/lifeguard at the East Petersburg Community Pool. I took part in club swimming with Five Star Swim Club for 8 years, and I also currently represent the Shippensburg University Swim Team. Additionally, I swam for Hempfield High School for 4 years as well as the Overlook Swim Team during my junior and senior year of high school.

Assistant Coach Nina Kramer: I recently graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville with a degree in Child Development. I am currently a 7th grade special education teacher with hopes of completing my Masters in Education in the near future. I am so excited to be back at Overlook after taking a few years off to complete school! I started swimming at age 5, and I was a club swimmer until I graduated high school in 2020. I can't wait to get to know everyone this summer!

Assistant Coach Brian Meck: I'm Brian, and I just finished my first year at Virginia Tech. I am studying biomedical engineering and plan on going into prosthetic design. This will be my 2nd year coaching at Overlook and my 4th year lifeguarding at the Bent Creek Pool. I have been swimming my whole life, starting at Overlook since I was old enough to swim. I went to Manheim Township and swam for the school and other clubs. I also played lacrosse for my high school. I love being active, and I can't wait to get to know everyone this summer!

Assistant Coach Brian Nguyen: Hey everyone! My name is Brian Nguyen, and I am currently a Mechanical Engineering student at Penn State Altoona. I've been swimming since I was a little kid. I represented the YMCA as well as Manheim Township in high school. This will be my 4th season back with Overlook and my 3rd back coaching. I'm excited to see everyone again in the summer for another fun season!
